15 Psi stock?

Alright i got a 93 laser turbo. ever since i got the car it has boosted 15 psi. on my stock boost guage it goes up to 14, my friend told me that stock is around 9 psi and he was thinkin it was weird that im up to 15 stock, no controller no nothin. help?

The factory gauge is innacurate. So while it shows that you're running 15psi, you're not.

Don't trust the factory gauge. That's just what the ecu thinks the boost pressure is at. If you get a mechanical gauge, you'll see that you're only running about 8 or 9 psi, 11 if you pulled out the bcs restrictor.

oops sorry to note i do have a autometer guage also. thats where i see 15 psi. but my stock goes from -14 to + 14 psi.

If you have an aftermarket gauge you most likley have a manual boost controller under the hood floating around. Only good explaination for being at 15psi..wich just happens to be about the highest recommended boost on stock system.

If you actually don't have one..then uhh. check your hoses I guess.

the stock gauge is factory rice, its useless. 2g stock gauges dont even have numbers on them

That's like asking why the speedo goes up to 160mph if the car will only do 120mph, they put gauges in cars to impress people on the showroom floor.

on my buddies talon his guage goes up to nine why does mine go up to 14? i wasnt referring to that

they could put a 50 on it and it still wouldnt make any difference. forget what that gauge says, if you have a real gauge you should forget its even down there.. unless you get dsmlink or a chip and use it to monitor knock or something.. then its sort of useful
