Well I've been working on my car for a week now, pulled everything off the motor besides the tranny and rods/pistons. A new Dejon 3" is going on, balance shafts have been removed, repaired/reinforced two motor mounts, and bought a all metal radiator. I wire-brushed the exhaust manifold and 02 housing insides as well as a little grinding. Well when I started to clean the turbo I noticed the crack around the flapper which more than explains the slow spool and the max 9 and 10lbs of boost I've been getting. Also when I blow into the compressor side of the turbo and block off the outlet I can hear air leaking into what maybe where the oil runs through.
Reading various posts I have learned that getting it welded is very temporary, and the leak warrants a rebuild at the very least. The problem is I've more than cashed out buying everything I'm already doing to the car and I need it to be drivable soon.
1. So, until I can afford to rebuild or replace that turbo, should I just hook the filter and maf straight to the throttle body to avoid the overly rich boost spark plug fouling leaking turbo and disconnect the flapper? or maybe in addition to that remove the exhaust turbine?
2. If anybody knows of a cheap way to replace the turbo with some sort of piping so I can sell/part it out on Ebay that would be great too.
3. Any other suggestions would be GREAT!!
