well today i got my hands on a 1g laser and i will be pulling the turbo and all extras out. my question is where can i get a 14b turbo flange? I have my own DIY turbo manifold and just need the flange. the turbo has zero shaft play and is in decent condition. I am also going to keep the down pipe attached and then custom fabbing it from there.

You're talking about the inlet flange, correct?

You can try turboflanges.com, but they're pretty much hit-or-miss these days. If you can get the guy there to respond to your e-mails, then you should be all set.

eBay is another good option. Any flange for a 16G, 14B, 13G, or T25 turbo should fit just fine.

There's another site that Chris knows of, but I can't remember the URL off hand. Maybe he'll jump in with it later...

thanx alot.

One other question is with the bov is how much do I need to crush it? I've read in many posts that us 420a's can use a crushed 1g bov.

The reason people crush it is because the start boosting more and it will start to leak. However, I think it will hold somewhere in the area of upper teens to lower 20's. You shouldn't need to crush it unless if you are built and planning on running high boost. I used one at 8 psi w/o crushing and it was fine. BTW if you are looking fo one I got one for sale :sneaky:

That depends on whether or not you're running a water cooled turbo. If you use the 14b, it's recommended that you run water lines, but at the same time, many just ignore them when putting turbo on a 420a since the stock hard lines aren't already made to route through a turbo.

You don't need to, but why not? This is all a matter of opinion, but the water lines in our cars are so accessible, you might as well; you'll just need to plumb the turbo inline one of the heater core coolant lines (the black pipes that go across the exhaust manifold). If you water cool your turbo, you won't have to turbo time as much, and the whole turbo will run a little cooler. It isn't a requirement, though, and you can just as easily not water cool the turbo by simply not hooking anything up to the water ports.

ok well i got it out and now the turbine wont turbo, if i rebiuld it will that work or not? also where can i get a rebiuld kit for it?

Do you mean the turbine won't spin? Yeah, you can have it rebuilt. I don't think I would bother with that though. I'd be pretty expensive, and since you'll be spending money, I say chunck the 14b and get a Garrett T3. It's much easier to find manifolds with the flange for it, or just the flange for it by itself than a Mitsubishi turbo.
