my buddy is turboing his gs and he found 2 turbo kits on ebay that have a t25 and a 14b. he is going to have stock internals and doesnt plan on building them anytime soon, so which turbo do you think would work out better and make the most power without blowing him up?
thanks

14b is a bigger turbo. Stick with it.

14b for sure.

Wouldn't he want t25? If he isn't planning on building his motor anytime soon. The t25 spools more quickly, and I thought people upgrade to 14B to run MORE boost? I could be wrong, but that's how I thought it was...

Your right about normally wanting a smaller turbo, but you gotta realize a 14b is a smalll turbo too.
14b will spool up just as quick, but will carry it further to the redline than a tiny t25.

also (correct me if I'm wrong) but a smaller turbo tends to heat up a lil more quickly, and if your running non intercooled that also means even less boost.

Whatever, I'm running this turbonetics t3/t04b and spooling isn't a problem for me, granted its probably slower than those smaller turbo's, but you know I'm coming in a hurry when you hear my dump tube.

Not to mention the t3/t04e BB turbo has no spooling issues.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that, even though he's not planning on building his motor anytime soon, the size of the turbo (especially between a 14b and t25) really won't have as much an influence on the life of the motor as much as boost pressure, intake and exhaust size, fuel system, and everyday care of the car.

anyone here with a t25 on a turbo'd NT? I'd be quite interested to see if the boost would fall off in upper RPMS. Seeing as how anyone with a stock N/A motor wont be pushing more than 6-8 lbs. :)

the 14b will not work as hard as the t25 to push the same amount of boost, therefore the 14b is better. they are both small turbos, and spool time is approx the same with them. at 5500 rpms, the t25 will be pushing 50% to get the 8psi out, the 14b would only working about 35%
