Hey so i have 14b that i had just recently put on my 2g eclipse as a replacement of the t25. When i did this swap i also did the valve cover gasket. I'm pretty sure everything with the valve cover is fine. But when i start the car i get a white grey smoke out of my exhaust, I'm pretty sure its still just oil burning off from when my T25 blew. But im also getting a small leak of oil from the turbo where the clamp is between the hot and cold side. Also i have a small leak at the oil return line because i had to make my own oil return line from the turbo. Any ideas what could be causing this and how i can fix?

did you clean out your intercooler when you installed the 14b?

yea i pulled out the side mount and cleaned it out with some gasoline and water

im honestly more concerned about the oil leak at the turbo. im not sure what to do about it.

You might have to pull it and make sure the vband clamp is on right. Use s little bit of rtv on the oil pan side or two gaskets

Are you feeding from the head?

cool i will try some RTV on the pan area....but there is a right and wrong way to put on the vband clamp? i thought it just goes on the same no matter what

There isnt as far as i know of but if its not flush and not mating up right could cause a leak between the hotside and CHRA.

so i woke up and went to go outside to start pullin the turbo off and.... its snowing fml hahaha

would i be able to use RTV 598 black on the oil return line and between the hot and cold side of the turbo?

do you think there is a chance the vband clamp isnt holding the together tight enough even tho its on as tight as i can get it.

hign tack works really well on paper and rubber gaskets, where as the copper coat spray works well on composite and metal gaskets. if you HAVE to use rtv, use a tiny bit, spread it with your finger, then when bolting everything togather, just go finger tight, wait about 30 min, then tighten everything down, this will prevent you from pushing all the silicone out when its torqued.

ok so i pulled everything and appplyed a very tiny amount of rtv and everything is good there but im still getting a small oil leak from under the vband clamp...does that just mean that the turbo is no good or that the clamp is bad? im so confused

so the vband clamp on the turbo is no good its not holding the 2 sides together right. can anyone point me in the direction of a new vband clamp?
