hey,

im in the process of turbocharging my spyder 4g64 and i got most of the parts not it comes to the turbo i can choose between a t25 and 14b which one is better idk that much so help me out. Will the 14B fit the 2g gst manifold as a bolt on just like the t25 would? and what are the differences between the t25 and 14b.

i will appreciate it if you guys help me out.:hellyeah:

14b has way better potential than the t25. It will bolt right on the factory 2g exh mani but you will need a j-pipe and 2g install kit. Not to mention a used or new 7 bolt turbo model oil pan and intercooler/intercooler pipes.

ok so lets say i got a 2g GST with a t25. if i bought the 14b it would be a DIRECT BOLT ON to the GST? because all my parts going to the spyder are GST parts like oil pan, exhaust manifold than i would do 14B turbo with front moutn intercooler and water lines, oil lines,450CC injectors 190 walbro fuel pump. these are basuically the parts i have.(not the turbo yet)

Go with the 14B turbo if you are turbo charging. Much better turbo and the only other thing you need is a J pipe but if you are going to do a 14B why not just buy a 16g it's the same fit and it's a bigger turbo. My opinion

Did you read DSMj89's post? Yes, it bolts right on, but you need what he said. Try doing some searching on here about the 14b and T-25. They both bolt right up, only difference is the 14b came stock on 1G models, the T-25 came stock on 2G models. The main difference you want to be concerned about is that the 14b flows more air than the T-25. More air=more power. End of story.

well idk about turbos that much thats why i want help. ok should i get a gst exhaust manifild ported or not whats the difference?

Please read the FAQ's and VFAQ's available on this site. That question is self explanatory. A ported manifold is exactly that. Ported. More airflow, perhaps smoother flow if done correctly.

i only want 7-8 psi so a not ported should do fine right?

Yes, you do not need to port your manifold at all. However, many people follow the "port it and forget it" philosophy. Hell, if you have it off the car, you might as well port it so you won't have to do it later.

one question you might be able to tell me how to they like ajust the turbo for like 9,10,11,12,13,14 PSI? i only want to adjust to like 7 psi but i have no idea how to i really want to turbo my car but i will need help from you guys that know everything about it.

By using a boost controller.

sorry for the noob questions but so the boost controller does it all, i tought it was something done in the wastegate. like this guys said (Connect the turbo wastegate actuator directly to the boost source nipple at the outlet pipe of the turbo. This *should* yield around 7-8psi boost.) i dont know what that means but since you said boost controller does it than ok.

ok manual boost controller got it, do the 4g63 injectors 450cc from a gst fits my 4g64 engine right ? i will also need the resistor pack because 4g64 iinjectors are high impedance and 450cc from gst are low am i right will they fit?

thanks. I want to run NO MORE than 7-8 PSI on a 4g64 engine with a T25 OR 14B turbo, would i need to buy new pistons or they will handle 7-8 psi? the mechanic said it will beat the shit out of my engine if i turbo it is it true?

Don't listen to your mechanic. He probably screwed you with the last timing belt job. He wants to make some dough swapping in special internals and over kill everything to keep up with the crumbling economy.

Keep the boost low (under 10psi), buy a boost controller like a manual boost controller and all the turbo ecu, injectors, fuel pump and bolt it in. Get a boost gauge to know what boost boost is. And get a logger. EvoScan is the program for you. Great program. Fastlogging and has some NICE features. With the cable you get with the evoscan software you can edit your ecu with ECUflash. And do away with even needing the turbo ecu. You have a 1998-1999 car. You have SO many options available to you.

thats a great idea . i will not replace my pistons i will keep same and run low boost 7 PSI. now the install and the turning with software i have no idea how to do thats the bad part .

willye i have a very very good suggestion for you. First you need to come up with a parts list. after which people will help you with the install.

You aren't the first person to turbo the 4g64 and i'm sure that google can help you find that out.

also if you have the money swap in the evo 8 motor. i'm just recently finding out that you can do this to eclipse rs and gs models :))))))

No don't take the effort if you just want 300ish whp. His current platform is PLENTY for that... Hell even the EvoScan logging software he can use logs KNOCK SUM. So you can tune for zero knock like a 1g car :)

i have a parts list from a guy that turboed a spyder most of the parts are froma GST i will be buying a 16G turbo from a guy localy for $100 with no shaftplay or leaks. if that dont work out there is another guy selling a 14B with TINY shaftplay and no leaks for another 100 . but i want to stay awau from the T25's u know, all i want is 7 PSI and a BOV thats all im not going at it all for HP like most of you guys.

14b turbo
Manual Boost Controller
Boost Gauge
1g bov
fmic

Your gold, that car will haul. Just do not get greedy and up the boost too much (10 psi max). You have higher compression and you do not want to blow your motor. Read more and do the swap yourself. I have a ton of pix of my 14b swap with an external wastegate. Its sexy. Plenty of threads on a turbo swap. I would just order the coolant lines and oil feed lines from extremepsi.com May spend like $150 but it's worth it for those new parts. Do want to skimp out.

the only thing i still didnt figure it out . ok oil feed goes from oil filter housing to turbo, oil return from oil pan to to turbo. ok now water line go EXACTLY WHERE and FROm where does it return to the turbo? the trottle body or something? like i want maybe someone has a picture of like exactly which hole and where it goes thats the only thing confusing me.

and i want a HKS bov y does everyone have a 1G bov here?
