I've been searching for awhile now reading threw threads on how people have problems with the slow spool from a 14b. Ive pulled everything apart, checked the wastegate flapper and it's sealing. I've checked all the gasket on the exhaust manifold. I checked and did a good boost leak test on the intake system still couldn't find any leaks. Lastly I tried a few different things like shimming the wastegate which helped a little and messed around with my boost controller which also helped a bit when I unhooked it. But unless Im at like 40% throttle in 2nd and 1st gear it's like the turbo isn't producing boost when I'm at like 20% percent throttle in 2nd gear at like 3500-4500rpms from like 20-29 mph. It looks like it's going to on my boost gauge but doesn't get past the 0 unless I give it a good amount of gas. Still doesn't climb as fast as it did but it still hits at like 4500rpms. Any ideas on why this is happening? Also in high gears it seems better than low gears and the turbo sounds like it's spoiling when I'm in 2nd coming into 3rd gear and there is a small blow off it's just isn't showing much on my boost gauge. I have verified the wastegate flapper is sealing.

Do you have a bleeder type MBC? I have one and my 14b acts the same if i have the MBC (TurboXS bleeder $hit) closed. It doesn't really control the flapper so much as the spool time... really aggravating... hope this helps (keep it loose and open).

Your front mount intercooler is going to add extra turbo lag.Check wastegate and boost controller too.

Try disconnecting your downpipe and running an open exhaust housing. Your cat might be bad and causing too much of a back pressure for your wastegate to open.

If you have shimmed the waste gate - washers under the bolts to pull the gate shut tighter. Then the next thing I would be looking for is a boost leak - do a BLT.

Have a full 3" exhaust no cat and it seems like it does the same thing even when I disconnect the boost controller.

Herp derp. Check for shaft play.

There Is such a tiny amount of side to side I don't think it could affect it.:hmm:

I would disconnect the cold side of the turbo, just that little 10mm and the coolent/oil lines, and make sure both blades are spinning freely. If there's no boost leak, and your wastegate is opening without leaking, then it has to be the turbo.

could be exhaust leak before turbo. At low throttle position and and that low of rpms. I dont spool much. I even have the Cyclone intake. Soon as i get past 50% its almost instant boost
