Hey, I was wondering if these cracks in the 14b I have installed be the cause of slow spool time? I checked for boost leaks and dont seem to have any. Can anyone tell me why it takes so long to hit fool boost?

As you can see the turbo looks really good, so should I just go out and buy a new turbine housing? And where can I get one for the best price?

all tdo5 housings will crack, its just the way they are designed. I wouldn't spend money on a new housing since it would cost so much. If your sure that the cracks are whats causing the slow spool then i would just try and get a used housing from someone.

you could be getting slow spool because of the ex mani, could be really constricted and the exhast side will make a difference if it is ported along with the o2 housing. i have reacently bought a 18g that had minor crackes on it by the wastegate but i am going to replace it before it goes on my car with the mach v forged steel piece with the 38mm wastegate. i would try to braise or have some one fix the cracks or just replace the hole ex side. 14b's dont really spool really quick on my car until i started porting and i saw a major difference.

Ha Ha. I looked at the first pic and thought it way my old 14B turbo. It actually still pulled fairly hard cracks and all.

Yeah those cracks are causing your slow spool. Exhaust is leaking through the cracks before is passes by your turbine wheel. Just shop around eBay for someone selling a crack-free turbine housing. Or look for a blown 14b parts turbo. Just make sure it has a good turbine housing before you buy it. You should be able to pick up a blown 14b for about $50-$70.
