okay now i know there are a few forums about installing the 14b, but my issue is that the previous owner, well he wasn't a smart person and blew the t25 that was in it, and instead of fixing it, he converted the car to N/A, so my issue is that i need help making sure i get her converted back, keep in mind this is my first dam/boosted car so bare with me, i have a decent mechanical background and plan on doing the work myself, just need some help, thanks guys

Did the PO just take the turbo off and put a NT header on it? Did he take all the turbo associated stuff out as well?

Yea, kind of confused on how exactly he "converted" the car to n/a. Because well, had he just taken the turbo and IC off with no other changes I dont see the car running all that well. Elaborate a little more, what he did/didnt do, how he did it, your plans etc..

This is a pic of my engine bay, I'm not 100%sure how he did it, but it runs just fine right now

And I agree with you, no clue why he did this... but like I said he was dumb

If its not a turbo engine that seems like a lot of work to swap in a NT 2.0 considering the NT 2g had a 420A which looks like a completely different engine

Seems like the guy lied to you and was never boosted out of the factory.

What Does the Vehicle title say on the model?

And if he had indeed actually converted it. Did He give you the parts he pulled of that would of came off the car when doing the swap?

Some 2gs came 4g63 Na out of the factory

Probably need a ecu too, injectors

If it came from the factory turbo'd it would run ok with the same ecu and injectors.

I believe only Europe had 2g N/T's with the 4g63 in it

That is correct

True..

Maybe one made it here.

Possible but not likely.

OP a simple way to check is to see if theres a plug on the oil pan where the oil return would go. If it came turbod from the factory then I have no idea why he just didn't replace the turbo. Its not that much.

it is a GST from factory, i have all the parts that he took off, including manifold, intercooler piping, bov, the smic is still on the car, so it IS a factory turbo...all i really need to get is the kit to install the 14b on it correct? also would like to upgrade to a fmic...any thoughts on the best bang for your buck, im not lookin to be cheap, just want the best one for best price

A friend of mine did this on his 1g. He blew his 14b to pieces so he made it non turbo until he replaced it. It ran pretty good but it was a DOG!!! Wouldn't get out of its own way. So it is possible...

and yes it does run just fine, it is rather slow with that said but runs all the same, i agree with you guys, i have no idea why someone would ever do this but like i stated before, this guy was not the smartest person i have met

Look into punishment racing for a fmic kit, I was gonna go with that kit but I got a vrspeed instead, doubt you would need fmic with just a 14b

Get a VRSF. By far best bang for the buck.

Then just go about swapping everything back on. How much shaft play does that 14b have? May as well rebuild it while you have it off if it has any play.

Looks like a fun project and doing all this work yourself will really help you learn about your dsm. My best advice is rebuild the 14b bro. Rebuild kits are cheap from gpopshop. I would never but a used turbo on my car without rebuilding it, even if the person I got it from said they just rebuilt it, (unless it was Justin :) You don't want to do all this work, then first time you go out and try to boost and realize the turbo smokes or worse whines of death.
