hey everyone... yes I'm a noob... I've done the research and found nothing on the difference between these two turbos... I have an automatic TSi. Does anyone know how much cfms a stock 13b flows? and was wonderin if I upgrade from the 13b to the evoIII16g will I feel the horsepower increase - is it worth the money? I'm looking maybe low 13's and high 12's - I just want a turbo that'll give me more zip... I'm prettty convinced but I"d like feedback from fellow dsmers... what size injectors would be enough?? And is a front mount intercooler a necessity or can I run it off the sidemount? Any answers would be appreciated = thanks...

modz that ill get soon:
apex-i safc
550 or 660 injectors
255 walbro hp fuel pump
turbocharger evo kit #4 from Forced Performance
evo manifold

modz ill get in the future:
prolly extremepsi street series fmic

will this be enough?

I also hear a lot about clipping - some say do it and others say don't - I understand this adds lag and is for more top end - should the evo turbo be clipped?

Are you kidding me?? LOL...the E316G w/all the support mods can easily push over 20psi compared to your little 13B...so yes you will DEFINITELY feel a big boost in power. Oh and the support mods would entail:

free mods
3" in turbo back exhaust w/test pipe pref
evo o2 housing or equivalent
FMIC
550cc, 660cc, or 720cc injectors...depending on how much you wanna boost
datalogger
safc or equvialent
all the necessary gauges (EGT, boost, a/f, etc...)
fuel pump upgrade
ported 2g manifold would be nice
and a performance clutch to handle all that new hp

...there's some other stuff i'm forgetting im sure...but with that you could run a E316g :thumb:

oh and as far as clipping goes...I would do it...it does add a little lag...but its very little from what i hear...like 100-200 rpms. You really can't feel the diff, and I noticed you've got a FWD so the lag would actually help to lessen wheel hop and what not.

Hell you could probably put a 14b on and notice a big diff from the 13b from what i hear. the 13b is comparable to the T25 in my opinion which isnt worth comparing to anything except for a small blow dryer :(

Ive never seen an auto that needed a perfomance clutch. Dont have the tubo clipped with an auto. It will seem to take forever for the turbo to spool. Even a small 16g will make a very noticeable diff from the 13b. I cant give you flow #'s off the top of my head but I think(someone correct me if Im wrong) the evo III will flow like 250cfm more at the same boost. Plus, get an afpr. It will make tuning alot easier.

Technically it's a 13G, not B, but the points are all valid-- it's comparable to a T-25 in power potential.

Yes, a clutch on an automatic is probably not needed. :D

You may also wish to consider throwing in some 1G 5-speed cams while you're at it-- you can probably find some dirt cheap, and they're better than the auto cams you now have.

my bad guys...I totally forgot he had an auto...oops

Well, technically, you are right.. There are clutches inside the AT that can be upgraded to Kevlar composite that have better clamping force (obviously). Most rebuild kits for performance include these beefier clutches in them...

13G - 360 CFM
EVOIII 16G ~ 550 CFM

34.5% increase in CFMs at the same boost level, plus will support about 375HP @ 22PSI on a DSM.

375 whp? or fhp? I think a 2g manifold no porting and evo III 16G no port no clip. Nie longevity smooth power and it really moves. :dsm:

not to revive the dead ... but i thought it was a 13g not a 13b
