They're made out of the same thing the 4G63 rods are made out of, and will take at least 315 at the wheels without any problems. Probably closer to 400. This isn't a high RPM engine where stretched and bent rods are going to be a problem.

here is a pic with the whole assembly put toghter and bolted on notice where the oil line will connect notice that the water pipe is in place and it all fits. this is not the new turbo it is a old blown one that i bought with this assembly today

and there are absolutly no clearence issues, this turbo, manifold o2 housing and down pipe, aolong with the iol lines can just be bolted on the engine, like it was removed from the colt . and there are no collent lines to worry about either.
 
ok im now pushing 9 psi bout 9 1/2 somewhere around there i spent all time timing it jus rite put some premium gas and some other little things and also got some pics of the setup LOL its not as nice as mostly everybody elses but its semi unique..

well i got a new plan,
i'm getting a 1.8l engine with aprox. 60k miles on it for really cheep and i will rebiuld it and set it up for a turbo so i can do what i want with it and swap it in once i get it ready and all my parts together .. i don't really plan on getting it done with in a week or anything LOL , that way i can still have my car running and getting all the stuff i need to turbo.. any ideas of what parts i should use for rebiuld or anything i should have done ? ill let u guys now when i get the engine and see what shape its in maybe i can get away with just doing a top end rebiuld that way i can replace the headgasket, thatd also be a good time to get rid of the balance shafts... Cory
 
i would say , a stock 1.8 with some injectors and VAFC and a 1:1 FPR could handle 8-10 psi , ive been working with turbo imports for quite some time now ......

sucks , i wish i would have atleast picked up a GS ......

but , once i find me a colt manifold , i have a T3 just chillin in the garage ready to go on....

that manifold he made , wasnt too bad of an idea , but , he should have made a plate so it went 2 to 1 then 90degrees up to the manifold would have used waaaaay less pipe.

i'm shooting for 12 with tuned good with acf and fpr and injectors, plus the mods i already have done.. i think i'm actually gunna see what the engine in the car will do then what ever happens ill mod the other engine to handle it.. 12psi may also be on 2 headgaskets or 1 made by cometic gaskets to handle boost just depends.. it would be on a 14b turbo also..
 
i forgot to mention a FMIC to my list.......
 
well im running about 10 psi now, i have the 450cc injectors and good tuning thats it running great. i blew the headgasket but put a stronger one on and torqued it to 70lbs instead of like 54 or whatever :p been doing great since , i have a fmic and imna put that on there when i do my 3in exhaust on and maybe get a nitrous n'tercooler setup :) , i raced a 2001 1.8 corolla today had one of those electronic superchargers on it and i spanked that thing left him way behind , won 10 bucks :p my plans for the 1.8t is make a header for a nice t3/t4 turbo 3in all the way to the back fmic cry02 and some pistons and rods well and of course some kinda fuel management system. illl probably run about 20 psi and ill be riding out

I thought you could only run 7psi or so on a n/t turbo engine? wow! I never know you'd be able to set it at 10psi, Especially on a 1.8l. Good job, The engine bay looks pretty clean now compared to the first picture you posted of the turbo out of the car. Good luck.

hey ginsu did you car ever start smoking when u had the turbo on it? because someone that i uhh know is smoking now that he turbod my i mean his :rolleyes: 1.8 cracked rings bad turbo wut? imna check for shaft play and stuff tommorrow im to tired now

I've run 20. And I know what they mean when they say life begins at 20psi. :cool:

think about it. he makes an affordable kit hes good to go.

i would never turbo my 1.8...so im not included in that.

Try and make a 250hp 4g37 thats as reliable as even a 300hp 4g63. The two engines were designed for diffrent purposes.

Its great that you guys are doing this. I intend on doing a turbo in mine during the summer. I would buy a kit if someone made them but because I dont see that happening I will do my own, as I have access to many parts including the manifolds off of the colt.
 
greatwork guys.. any of you got a AFPR ? hows it work_?do u install it in the return line after the stock fpr?

i got a non adjustable one,so i gotta install it that way (has no instructions)
 
update! cars still running good went to the local car show thing every friday nite here in vero and a fellow dsmtuner stopped by my car to say hello thought that was pretty cool came 3 weeks in a row lookin for me :p but ayways update bought an evo 3 16g turbo to install making a custom exhaust manifold odered pipes from jegs should be here monday, allready have the flange for the head done so i have to make a flange for the turbo and cut and weld the pipes and ill have my dream manifold!!!!! im thinking of doing the shorty log design like its 2 tees and 2 90's the 2 tees go in the middle 2 90's on the outside flange on the bottom ((_||_||_)) sorts like that flange on bottom think it will flow decent? and who can make me a cam!!!!!!!

cams..i saw some cams for cheap on the german ebay for the 1.8L.. ill check it out and post here what they cost

turbokits.com and slowboyracing and turbospecialties make kits for your car .. but u may have to modify some parts(change em to better parts..the turbo is good,manifold ok..the rest is well...crap:shhh: ..hoseclamps and hoses suck.. im not bashing em.. but save your time and go out and get decent bends and hosecouplers and hoseclamps before you start )
