well i am sort of suprised to see this outcry from the 1.8 people here on tuners, we arent as rare as i thought we were. well to get a forum on a website it works best to pm the mods/admin people, i know...i am the one that got the 1.8 subforum on dsmtalk. as for this page just pm chris and plea your case with some degree of intellegence, hes a helluva guy and if he refuses he will most likely have a good reason. i am one of the mods over at 1eights so if you guys have any questions/gripes/comments feel free to pm me and ill see whats up. well i think thats about it...see ya around the boards

i support what you guys are doing, i remeber when i started asking questions about boosting my 420a "sell and buy a turbo car" yea thats a good idea, but not practical, i just got a 93 eclipse 1.8L auto, and a friend of mine wants it to build for show, and i told him i would find out about turboing, and as of now, i have everything done but the fuel system, everything mechanical is installed, so if i could get some tips on how to tune the fuel system let me know

I'm all for the 1.8 forum... I own a '91 Eclipse 1.8L and I wouldn't want to trade it for a 2.0L.

I'm all for the 1.8 forum... I own a '91 Eclipse 1.8L and I wouldn't want to trade it for a 2.0L. Us 1.8L owners need some respect!
Ginsu417, I have no problem with you being the only working turbo 1.8L on the planet as of now, but why do you seem angry when other 1.8L owners want to turbo their cars? I know how you must feel being unique, but if you post something on the internet, can't you expect others to copy you or at least use your experience as a reference?
I thought I was screwed when I bought my 1.8L Eclipse and found out there was almost nothing I could do in the way of power, thanks to 2.0L propaganda. Then I stumbled upon your post on dsmtalk and began to source a manifold and parts for my turbo project. I think those 1.8L owners who want to put together a turbo setup from scratch should get all the help they need, I mean, it's all about learning and sharing new things right?
1.8L owners unite, and if you see this Chris, come'on, hook us up with something we can work with!

I'm surprised DSMTuners allows DSM1EIGHTS to advertise. I won't recommend any board where the MODERATORS allow misinformation to run rampant and REPREMAND the few users who actually know what they're talking about - for telling them they're wrong. It WAS a decent board for about 45 minutes. Now the MODERATORS are recommending you get your cam gears ground, and cut up completely incompatible cast-iron manifolds and "weld" the pieces together to make a turbo manifold. On tuners it's printed in bold - Do not give tech advice unless you have first-hand knowledge of the subject. On DSM1EIGHTS, the MODERATORS and SITE ADMIN do it. And if you don't tell them they're completely wrong without hurting thier poor little feelings, they'll ban you. I do not recommend ANYONE visit DSM1EIGHTS for anything but laughs. And while the site admin will PROBABLY come over here and complain about how "offensive" and "rude" I was, it's no worse than what goes down on this board - rather tame in fact.

Try and keep the maturity of at least a 12 year old, and keep your whining out of public spectacle. There is a private message button on this board. To clear up your misinformation (which is pretty common amongst 4G37 owners) I'm not the only one on the planet with a working turbo 1.8 - I'm the only one that builds them - and the only one who's done any serious structural research on the motor. I do not have the most powerful 4G37 turbo eclipse on the planet. My girlfriend does. I'm not supporting the 1.8 community any more. Flame all you want, just don't email me with questions. Period. Paragraph. End of story.

Well the misinformation is getting taken care of. No one wants to give bad advice and further steps are being taken to make sure that bad info is not posted. I myself, try to stay out of conversations that I have no experience with. No ones feelings are hurt because you tell them they are wrong, ginsu. The problem lies with your attitude and I'm sorry that you feel you must run a smear campaign just because your feelings were hurt, when you were banned for causing a disturbance on our board. I got plenty of complaints from all the other members on how you behaved. It wasn't that you told people that they posted bad information, it's how you responded to them. There is a difference between being helpful and being rude! I'm sorry that it has come to all this. :(

 MY feelings hurt that I was banned. That's a good one. Especially coming from a cummunity that's been using my engine as a BIBLE for the last three years. I've got better things to do than talk to a bunch of penniless high school kids who think they can build a high performance race car on a platform with no aftermarket by spray-painting thier engine with metalcast, running 50 weight oil, installing headers made for another car and intake pipes designed for a honda civic hoping to make 150 at the wheels. If the site ADMIN intends to keep misinformation off the board, well, he may as well delete the entire tech forum because half of the tech misinformation on that board is posted by him. The other half is stories about how someone blindly hammered thier way through some engine work. DSM1EIGHTS is NOT a tech forum. No matter what the inept mods there do to control it - and what they've done is ban the only two people who know the engine well enough to do anything more advanced than an OIL CHANGE. If the 4G37 community has a problem with me, they can all go to hell. I'd blow each and every one of thier doors clean off any day of the week and twice on sundays.

I think that you are right about painting a valve cover with spray paint. I thik that is almost as stupid as painting an engine bay with red spray paint and not cleaning the over spray off and calling it a show car. or getting a maco paint job in piss yellow. That looks like crap. (orange peal). thats just my .02 im just sick of all the bitching that goes on on these sites.

I agree. Thankfully none of your description applies to ANY of my cars. The only yellow car I have was originally red in the engine bay and was sprayed in Dodge Viper yellow (Haven't seen "piss yellow" available. Maybe it's a Maaco color.) It also has zero orange peel because it was color sanded and buffed after it was coated in 9 coats of clear. That's what $3000 gets you. Don't really care about overspray in the bay, since everything under the hood was replaced anyway. Feel sorry for the fellow you're talking about with the Maaco paint job, though your making a valient effort to break DSMTuner's rules and flame me, despite the fact that you say you're sick of the bitching. Post a picture of your car up next to the one of mine with the speed hawaii girls sitting on the hood of it at the Import Xtreme Show. Let's have a poll.

Well, let's get it started now, shall we? Here's my (it's the girlfriend's now) 315hp 4G37 in "piss yellow" with the non-existant orange peel, painted by a Maaco technician disguised as a respecable shop. It was covered in dirt when the photo was taken, since the track's not exactly the cleanest place on the planet. Let's see yours - must be a real show-winner.

I don't want to add any more fuel to the fire here so I am pretty much done with this.

I like how you go off about how you don't want to race your $12,000 show car because it is very difficult to replace the rare parts you have in the engine but yet you talk all sorts of smack about how you can blow the doors off any one of us.

Attack my character all you want. I've done all the work on my cars, myself. The only thing I'm guilty of is that I've never had to tear down a 4g37 before and I don't know every intricate little detail about it. But I have rebuilt engines before and I do a lot to maintain my vehicles. I've brought my car back from being totaled, with my own two hands. Here, take a look!

I'm no highschool kid who only knows how to change his oil, thank you very much! ;)

I leave you with this.

You and yano's kept saying that DSM1eights was the laughing joke of the DSM community. Yet I challanged both of you to find any remarks as such and because you couldn't find any, you decide to go and do this.

Well, this went downhill a bit. I don't see a real need to create separate forum for the 1.8L crowd. I've checked out the one on DSMtalk, and it seems to get little participation. The number of people who want to talk about modding their 1.8L to make it faster will likely be able to get just as much use from the general N/T forum here on our site than they would a separate 1.8L forum.

And second of all, it seems to me that there shouldn't be arguing about some other site taking place here on our site. If you have a gripe about another site, please take it offline. And if you run a website, please avoid the tempatation to come in here and try to draw members to your site. I don't mind people doing ONE general announcement to our community about another good source for info, but mentioning the site over and over isn't too cool. I've done it myself in the past and quickly learned that it's a little disrespectful.
