First off, I've NEVER owned an import, so I'm definitely lost on this one.
01 Mitsubishi Elcipse Spyder with 2.4 (Total stock)
Just obtained this car with about 123, 000 miles on it.
Been driving it for a couple months almost with only minor problems. Randomly, since I've owned it I've noticed that the door locks try and lock themselves multiple times. Lost my car key about a month ago, had a new one cut and programmed immediately and it works fine.
Was leaving work a couple nights ago, let the car warm up for about 10 minutes and then left. It died about a mile after leaving. No warning at all.
Didn't lose electrical at all. Engine turns over, but won't start.
I inspected the battery/cables. Negative cable/post was coroded from end to end. Replaced cable and cleaned post. I suspect that this faulty/coroded cable had something to do with the random door lock problem seeing as though I could hear the locks engaging when I wiggled the cable.
So, yeah - changed the cable, but it still won't start.
Removed the air intake hose and sprayed some starter fluid in the intake and it didn't appear to try and burn it. No spark?
I can also hear a rapid clicking noise under the hood when I turn the key on or off.
I'm pretty lost. I've only ever really worked on old V8s and I'm not exactly what you'd call a mechanic.
ANY help at all would be much appreciated.
