So i have a completely stock 1995 GSX. I just want to find a way to get my 0 Gauge wiring through my firewall so i can have it going to my battery in the trunk. Ive looked for over an hour now and i cannot find a way to do so! Any help would be appreciated!

Poke a slit in the steering column boot and route it through there.

I know that's how most people tackle this problem but it just looks tacky to have a wire coming through that boot. Every time you enter the vehicle you will see the wire, boost gauge hose, Fuel pump rewire wire, etc. Plus you have the gas pedal there in the way when you try to route things to the passenger's side.

It will take a little bit of work but in the end you will be much happier with the results.

Drill a hole in your firewall. Preferably behind the center console next to where the shift cables get mounted. Then get a grommet to pad the hole you just made, that way the wire will not get damaged by the rough edges of the hole. Run your wire.

Done.

There is an area under the steering panel by the brake and clutch that runs wires through the firewall, if the wire is long enough it should make it.

0 gauge is pretty big though i dont know if it could make it through an already existing grommet...and i really dont trust myself drilling, can anyone show me a pic of where i can drill? or where i can run the wire?

Also, if i drilled a hole, i would like to be able to take my wire to my new car if i ever sold it.

anyone have any advice? or pics?

The steering column boot is in the red circle - it should be easy to run a 0 gauge wire through there. If you do a decent job you will NOT see the wire unless you stick your head under the dash. I think this is the best spot to use for the average guy. The spot in the red box is a potential spot to drill a hole for the wire. Take a look on your car and see if that would work well for you. The second picture shows where the wire would come through if you drilled that hole. Might be a little tricky to get a drill in that spot though.

So i should be able to cut the steering column boot and stick my wire through there?

Hmmm ok, i think i poked at it once but it was really hard... ill ry again

You can also try the entrance right underneath the battery. I forgot what it is but it routes from the battery to the fuse box to the inside of the cabin. I personally feel that's more logicial to place it due to the fact the fuse box is on the passenger side. I routed my 10 gauge wire through there.

I don't think 0 gauge will fit through there.
