well, i have a jdm motor in my car and was supposed to race it tomorrow. well, i decided to dial in my timing and do a compression test. ive been really good to this motor. well, # 1 had absolutely 0, 234 had 160 even. i did a wet test on #1 and still nothing. my valves for the #1 cylinder right? just want to know cause if so ill buy a rebuilt or performance head. also, for a while now it sounded like it had a bit of a missfire, like a putt, putt so bad valve seats would cause this too as well as ignition, right? also, oil on the #1 spark plug too and it seems to smoke a little after sitting at idle for a while but never while driving or only sitting for a minute or two, only after a few minutes. answers anyone?
thanks, charles.

Think about it, you put oil in a cylinder with possibly bad rings your gonna get at least some compression, however this guy has no compression. You sir have holed a piston. Sorry :thumbdown

Possible blown HG but, im guessing holed piston.

not entirely true, a guy here had 0 compression in #4 and it was valves.....pull the plug and stick a hanger in there and feel around on the piston, usually when they burn through, they burn through good

Good guess, pull the plug and shine a flashlight down there, however my guess i Still stand 90% behind.

well, i just replaced my head gasket and when i had the head off my pistons were perfect and didnt even have any carbon on them or anything, i mean perfectly clean and i dont beat the hell out of my motor, it makes no clanking noises or anything and it seemed to run strong. i just did the comp test cause i was gonna race tomorrow. no way the piston had a hole in it for sure. could the head have possibly warped when the old gasket blew? see, i was driving the night before the head gasket blew and noticed fuel cut and that my boost guage read 20 psi at wot and this was cause the vac line at my actuater melted and i immediately fixed it and the next day my hg blew (it seems that a little detonation goes a long way since it burned a hole in the hg between the 3rd and 4th cylinder LOL) so i got arp head studs and replaced my hg. seemed like my car had a little less power after the replacement though. so, any ideas after this new info?

well that explains why you had 0 compression, more than likely it was leaking over into #3 and going out the open valve..i doubt the head warped, i hit 30 psi once for some strange reason and my shit was fine
