Had a question about my 2G NT 95 Eclipse. I did a swap a while back before I deployed here to Iraq and before I left I was not able to finish working out all the bugs. And one thing I noticed was that during take off and some times during braking that there was an audible “pop” noise in the front right section of the car up near the axle somewhere any ideas on what this could be? Also I broke my main motor mount by accident during the install of the new 420A motor. Being new at cars at the time with about 6 months experience accidents will happen. Someone had mentioned that this could be the reason for it but the sound seems still to be coming from the front right still. I did a visual inspection and didn’t see anything wrong. I also had to do a complete replacement of the front right axle assembly the control arm and all. Due to the CV joint being frozen in place from where it sat in storage in the North part of the states before I bought it off ebay. The swap went great with not many complications now just trying to work out the bugs before it goes up for sale due to buying my dream eclipse. A GSX 92 1st Gen. Needed to down size being in the military and all planning on getting married when I return from here so need to save on the funds LOL.

Thanks a bunch for the help in advanced!

An HM huh, AE2 in Wa. Anyway, I just had a similar problem for similar reasons. But for some reason my front right axle unseated from the transfer case on the hwy :thumbdown , got that fixed though. just wondering , are you saying you did or didnt replace the cv joint? is the pop more audible in a turn or what? And out of curiousity, when you replaced that axle, did it seem like the axle was too short, like maybe the wrong part? That happened to me and the shop ordered 4 other axles and they were all the same part, just too short. They put it in anyway and it works fine now, just odd. Good Luck. :talon:

Yes I replaced the cv joint and the whole axle and it seemed to fit great. I put it in myself and didn't have any problems. Mabey I forgot a screw or somthing? :D LOL. I apreciate the help too.

Is your ride an AWD, FWD? Does it do it at idle as well, louder at high speeds? Did you change the bearings as well? And do you have any transfer case/drive axle lubricant leaks that you can see?

mine does this too when i stop it clunks in the front and when i accelerate hard it clunks in the front...its on the drivers side front where it still has a factory blown strut(all others are gas shocks) because one went out on me so thats in there for now on lowered springs...could this be the problem? sory to steal just wanted a quick answer and didnt want to make another thread thanks!!!!!

Hmmm thanks for the help. I will tear it down when I get back and see what I can come up with.

Thanks,
Josh
