I am having a very hard time removing the end case.

Theres a small crack on it and it’s not easy to get to, so that is why I am removing the case.

I watched a few videos, some like Jafro used straight blades to accomplish this but I cannot get them In there at all from any corner.

I have tapped on it with a hammer and tried using a flat head to pry it but I’m afraid if I try any harder I’m going to make this worst.

Please advice
Thank you.

Yes sir I was prying right there, but my flat head just bends, I’m scared of applying to much force.
Looks like somebody already had. There is a lip around the drain plug. Looks like some of it is broken off. Not a big deal. I can't remember if the lip is on the end case or the bearing plate. Either way you can use this as leverage.

Put the drain plug back in, pry under the drain plug between the bearing plate and the drain plug. It pops off 5th gear cover with ease. Make sure you have all 9x of the medium length bolts and 2x long bolts out also.

Thanks all - unfortunately wasn’t able to
No budge, can’t get the thinnest straight blade in there, just gonna have to try and weld the crack while still in trans.

I used a slide hammer hooked In the drain hole don’t work - I just stopped I’m confident I will just brake it.

It literally has two tiny alignment dowels holding it on, and RTV sealant. I take these apart every day with a small prybar between the drain plug and the case. You are certain you have all of the bolts out??

I can see it has RTV - might as well be JB weld LOL 😂

Yes all the bolts are off - idk why this one is fused , it has a tiny crack that allows leakage wanted to remove case but yeah no. Unfortunately 🥺
So why worry about breaking it? It needs to be replaced anyway.

Thanks again everyone!!!!
As you all said, just a big flat end bewteen the mid case and drain bolt and POP !!!!

Even tho I had to drop trans first, for this to work…….

My last question is how is the metal wavy ring supposed be installed ?! With the 2 lill pins pointed towards the end case or towards the transmission?

It came off and now I’m a little lost , should it be orientated at a certain angle ?!

Thanks

You see on the casting below the reverse cone, there is an open area in one section, the two tabs of the reverse wave spring go down onto the cone in that spot, then it will be pressed down until it clicks into place. You might have to GENTLY!! bend in the tabs ever so slightly to have it get locked on the flat recessed line of the reverse cone. It should stay in place and have a small area it can be clocked into the correct orientation when it is installed properly.

My brain 🧠 works better with pics are there any of this in the manuals you posted I can search

And to clarify you mean wavy spring with the 2 tabs facing the case ? Not the actual synchro on trans side ?

PS I don’t know what cone ?! I’ve read about this before but my fat ass is thinking 🤔 ice cream 🍦 cone

On the 5th gear cover, there is the reverse cone that has 3x tiny screws that attaches it to the casting. On the casting around the outside of the reverse cone, you will see that it has a gap. That gap is where the two locking tabs face downwards towards the reverse cone. Let me edit your photo and show you.
