This car is officially mine! That being said I'm trying my hardest to ignore the rot so I can continue to build the engine. I will not let my ocd get the best of me.

My plans are to get it back up and running and see what it'll do on its current tune. After I rip it around on e85, I'll probably tune it on 91 and enjoy a nice solid cruiser. I want to drive it for the summer and worry about certain things later.

I'm going to try and wait till winter to really dig in. I may do some very simple repairs and take everything one step at a time. I don't want it be down like my rs, even though I so badly want to do another full restoration. I don't have a whole lot of free time like I used to so I'll break the build up in pieces.
There's a nasty dent I'll have to fit in to fix at some point as well.

The interior of this thing is truly emaculate. I've never in my life seen an interior this preserved, not even the headliner is sagging at all. It was definitely stored inside, but I think it was stored in a barn somewhere. Things are very crusty in all the wrong places. Alot of areas are fine and I'm hoping I can just build off of the areas that rotted away. We will take everything one step at a time this go round.

I also told my brother that I get to keep my rims and tires. They are probably my favorite ones so far. Here are a bunch of photos of the beginning of an absolute epic build. I've never been so excited.

This * I did everything before I got around to dealing with the same issues your showing.

That R87 radiant fire 🔥 red - looks amazing 🤩 she gorgeous in and out.

That was my original color many shades ago.

I love seeing how you keep the 420s running it’s taken me some time to appreciate them, I’m glad your documenting it.

Breaking things down in sections will be a game changer for sure. I just need to really stick to the plan and not wander off.

I agree with you 100 percent! That red is one of my favorite colors on these cars. I appreciate the compliments on her, it's had one rough ride unfortunately, finally ending up in my hands. There is clear peeling off a little on the hood and on the spoiler, but not real bad.

I would have loved to see your car with the og color. Did you paint it because of bad paint or just wanted it different?

This car is the literal identical twin to my avatar photo. Same year and trim and all. It definitely brings me back.

I'm not going to lie when I got my first turbo eclipse in 2014, I never thought I'd even touch a non turbo again. I've finally learned to love them since I've had both. I just want to preserve as many as I can, fast or slow. Having a non turbo as my first car back in the day, it tugs on the heart strings just a little more.

So when I got mines it had severe gloss fractures so large pieces would come off if you looked at her.

And because men apparently suck at distinguishing between shades of red !
I accidentally picked P88 vs R87 when ordering paint to keep her original. :/

In the first or 2nd page of my build you can see her original color.

Someone did a killer job on all of it. The fuse box was relocated to the front bumper. The megasquirt is tucked up behind the radio all nice and neat as well. I actually love how everything is set up so I'm going to leave it that way. I'm way to excited to get it going. The engine is almost put back together.

I'm starting to kind of dissect this thing a little more and change certain things on the inside for the better. One big thing I didn't like is the radio sat terrible from the plastic install kit. I also found out all the wires were ran exclusively from the speakers to the radio. I want all that to stay in a factory manor.

I also noticed it had a new turn signal switch. I tested the lights and come to find out the tail lights and dash lights didn't work. First things I checked were the fuses which were good. The next thing I checked was the relay and what do you know they work again. I'll be looking for a used factory one. It sucks because the 95s that I have are different from the 98.

This is ending up turning into the snowball effect. While I have the console out I might as well throw in my solid shifter bushings. While everything is apart I might as well rewire the gauges and instead of using the dual gauge pod ill throw in my triple. Things are moving quite nicely but a hair overwhelming.

I ended up turning the key on with power and obviously a bucket to catch the fuel, I was like man the pump is stupid loud. Whoever built this thing did not let the 420a slow them down. They loved this car for what it was and no money was spared. Fat lines from front to back and a tank full of e85.

I dont get these cars for investment purposes at all but there was a ton of money thrown into this. I wish I knew the guy that built it.
The funniest thing is it exchanged hands with younger guys who knew nothing about these cars. They saw the big turbo and that was it. The guy said he was planning to awd swap it. I chuckled and loaded the car up on the trailer.
