So I thought I'd be tackling my suspension after getting my brakes done, but I've been made aware by my mechanic that one of my ignition wires (or spark plug I don't exactly recall which it was) is starting to fail, made evident by an audible tick in the engine bay, seems to be the 4th cylinder ignition wire.
Since I'll have to change the ignition wires I thought why not just tackle ignition maintenance altogether, given I have no clue if any of those parts were replaced or the last time any of them were done so. As such I plan on getting spark plugs, a new ignition coil pack, and of course new ignition wires.
For spark plugs its between NGK or Denso, either Copper or Iridium. On one hand I would like for the spark plugs to last as long as possible so NGK Iridium laser/ Denso twin-tip are on the table, but I get that copper is also a valid option since I don't put too many miles on the car anyways even as a daily driver (At least that's what I think, I got the car Dec' of '24, at 57,XXX miles, and just this week crossed 65,000 miles on the odo). Getting the right plugs from RockAuto I have to search via the Dodge Avenger, as with the 2L I4 Eclipse (Non-Turbo obviously), I get spark plug results for the Turbo model i think, as the spark plug part number should end in 11 (at least for NGK) but they don't so I assume RA is displaying the 2G Turbo spark plugs even for 420a 2Gs.
As for the ignition coil, I see that one by Mopar can be ordered on RockAuto but not thru the NT 2G Eclipse, it would appear via the 95-99 2L I4 Dodge Avenger. I assume it should be perfectly compatible since both Eclipse and Avenger have the 420a Engine, unless there's a reason why it's not available for the NT 2G Eclipse (it is the most expensive option though :/ ). Other than Mopar I am considering Blue Streak (Standard Motor Products), which I read from another forum member Black'98DSM as being capable of producing a strong ignition when paired with appropriate ignition wires and spark plugs. Aside from those prior two being the primary consideration, there's Delphi (of which I so far have a good experience with their Control Arms) and Hitachi (a name I recognize from TV electronics generally, I expect they'd make fine electrical components, at least for Japanese vehicles, although the 420a 2G or DSMs in general are not really Japanese vehicles, made in Normal IL).
I think I know to stay away from MSD for the ignition coil based on the advice from the same forum member as noted earlier, and I kinda get the idea that VMS would be a similar case, but I've not seen much reviews for VMS's ignition coil in so far as the Chrysler/DSM application, it just kinda gives the same impression being advertised in the same way as MSD.
As for spark plug wires I am considering NGK, Blue Streak (SMP) and Taylor Cable Thundervolt (also following the advice of Black'98DSm for this third pick). My goal is for the ignition to be refreshed and be as good if not better than stock and long lasting. I get the idea that I won't need the highest performing wires so I don't think I need Granatelli unless there's no reason not to go for it assuming it makes no difference and only benefits, remember that this is for a daily driver stock car with no mods.
Any input or advice would be helpful and appreciated and thank you for your time.
