Toronto,
Okay, I want the msd igntion box, the DIS-2, can someone figure out the part number that has it where it can retard timing based on boost.

I was also looking at the crane ignition systems but couldn't figure out exactly what I would need to retard timiming based on boost either. I also couldn't figure out if I should be buying the $479 box or the $349 box off the howellautomotive.com site.

I'm just really confused about what to buy.

but basically all I want is somthing that will let me retard timing based on boost, so that when i'm not in boost timing is normal. Thats it, any help is greatly appreciated.

you want the programmable msd part #6212 and the boost sensor part#23121

it comes with software and instructions

Thanks alot, anyone know where to get those at a good price?

I've found.....

http://www.prostreetonline.com/buy/msd_programmable_dis-2_ignition_system/

Also after I called up msd they said I would need a
#8912 adapter for fuel? anyone know anything about that?

never heard of that one
the intructions for that msd box doesnt say anything about fuel

all it does is read the boost sensor and adjust timing based on the values you set into it

part#8912 is a tach adapter, it plugs inline to the msd box so you dont get a CEL
some cars only get a cel
some cars wont run at all without the adapter

you do need part#8912 tach adapter but i am not sure how that is related to fuel

i got my stuff from summit its a little more expensive but their support is worth it IMO
the programmable one isnt cheap though
i went with the standard msd box and if i need to start adjusting timing it has a feature that allows you to retard timing when 12v is placed on a wire

i am going to see at what boost level i need to start retarding and wire it to a Hobbs switch to supply the 12v

part #8912, is an adapter so that our cars can read the voltage signature to still run its preexsistaing functions before the msd box was installed. I called up msd a few times before actually placing the order and this is what they gave me, and said it would work for what I wanted. Prostreet also has the cheapiest deal on that msd programmable box that I got #6212.

I'll let u know how it goes when I get it in a couple of days
