Hey guys,
Im looking for advice. This noise just started a few days ago. I instantly drove it home and tore it down. I figured it would be the throw out bearing so I dropped the trans. The throw out bearing looked shot and had a ton of play in it so I replaced it and put the car back together.
While the car was apart I looked at the clutch and everything looked intact. Springs werent falling out and nothing looked out of the ordinary. Now I did not take the clutch off the flywheel because I misplaced my alignment tool. I have a F1 stage 3 sprung clutch and it has been good to me for 30k miles. The clutch still grabs like new. This noise is happening when I am halfway depressed on the clutch. If I put the clutch to the floor the noise continues for a second or two then stops.
So what do you think guys, Bad bearing on the trans input shaft? Do you think I should of dropped the clutch too and inspected it more thuroughly? Did one of those pesky field mice get inside my transmission? Crankwalk? LOL. Open to any suggestions since Ill be tearing the car all back down tomorrow or the day after.

cracked flywheel maybe? if it was a input bearing it would make noise in every gear i would think

Although I would not count out the field mouse. It could be from your bov not being recirculated.. But seriously I would put my money on something in your transmission or your clutch springs are totally shot/falling out and missing. However, you said they were good. Either way you need to remove the trans again so i would start there. Take it out and inspect again. Send the Trans to a shop and check it over if everything else is golden.

Drop it and get an alignment tool and get your clutch disk inspected on both sides. One day, I drove my car in the evening to get it inspected and the following day I couldn't get in gear. I finally had a spring pop out during that time of driving home.

I was figuring if it was a cracked flywheel it would also make the noise while the clutch is released. The trans does grind a little if I try to put it in gear while its making this noise. Hopefully you guys are right and its just a spring that popped out of that sprung disc. Im really kicking my self in the a** for not pullling the clutch off while I was in there. I guess if thats the case Ill try out the XTD unsprung stage 4. Just dont know to get the red or the white pressure plate. The red is 1700 pounds and the white is 2300 pounds. Most posts dont refer to which pressure plate they got with thier stage 4 XTD.
Anyway im getting ahead of myself. I am going to take it down tomorrow. Ill post pictures of what I find!

Check your springs in your sprung clutch. even if its new a friend of mine had a problem like this and one of the springs were bad. The spring was cracked already but still in the clutch. And this noise came up.

Good guess guys! Springs were ejected.
Man I wish I wasnt lazy and dropped the clutch in the first place. Oh well. So judging by the pictures do you think I can just replace the clutch disc? The pressure plate and flywheel look great and I dont see any heat marks. I guess I would have to break in the clutch again. Otherwise Ill be looking to resurface my flywheel and Ill get the XTD stage 4.
