I picked this talon up

it's a 1992 with 237xxx on it.. fwd tsi talon.. not burning a DROP of oil.. and not leaking any coolant.. was UNMOLSTED when I got it..

Now the compression on the motor is 152-153-153-153.. I"m gonna assume these are good number?

Body is in good condition, It's a rebuild title because it was hit in the drivers passenger door and fender.. but I've got those fixed now..

I've noticed my clutch is starting to slip under boost(how hard are these to change?)

Anyways let me know what you all think.. I'm going to go pressure wash the engine bay here soon and vacuum the interior..

Thats a clean 1gb man, just do as much basic maintenance as you possibly can before you touch any kind of performance mod. Hell, with that many miles I'd be afraid that even adding a boost gauge might set off the ticking time bomb of failing parts... :)
Becareful when your washing the engine, if you do a quick search here see how many threads are "Just washed my engine bay and now it won't start."

looks good, how much did you pay for it? 237,000 is a lot of miles, i hope it was taken care of

HAHA GUYS I'M IN CANADA 237xxx KM!(147,264 miles) hahahaah.. and I've owned a 1990 talon but I heard there different from the 1gb...
Paid 1300$CND for it with a complete 1994 parts car.. 1994 had a popped motor complete car tho!

and my old 1990 awd tsi talon had 320xxxkm on the stock bottum running 25 psi

oo km, thats not bad then. Looks like a good find, especially if you got a parts car along with it

Looks good, I can drop my tranny in 2 1/2-3 hours if I prepare according, putting it back in is the hard part. I've never dropped a FWD tranny so I'm not sure how much harder/easier it is than AWD.

same thing I've read just NO transfer case crap.. it's just the axels and tranny bolts and the other basic's
No downpipe, xfr case, or driveshaft to remove so its actually easier than the AWD. A buddy and I did his AWD tranny in 3 hours (removal and installation) but he's done it a dozen times and I've done it three times, you should plan for a 6 to 7 hour job. I say it should take you longer because you don't want to miss something and then have to remove it again to fix the problem so take your time.

Cool will do.. SO what you think of the talon now that you know it's only 237xxxkms=145xxxmiles

Well I practiced a tranny on my parts car.. shit it's easy.. just like a civic tranny..I can use all my tricks.. just less bolts..(there is 9 bolts holding a civic tranny to the block.. not including starter, slave and flywheel plate)
