I have a 3" gm maf and maf translator, would like to look at everyones input on this setup. I have 2g DSM, auto, t25, b&m AFPR, Walbro 255lph, Turbo back exhaust Apex'i, Injen air intake, greddy RS BOV KO.

I have waiting a Mishimoto FMIC, 3" gm maf and translator. Any input on MAF and translator? Advice ###.... :thumb:

No takes???

That T-25 is your largest restriction right now. That MAFT will allow an additional tuning option and there have been some people who have been able to put out nice power with them coupled with a SAFC. Personally? I wouldn't use one for more than being able to clean up my engine bay and so if I were to ever blow a coupler I wouldn't cripple my car immediately.

If you've got it, you may as well install it. I would, however, start looking into at least a 14b upgrade. A 16g would be the proper way to go. Just remember - More boost calls for more fuel. In order to run anything at it's best potential you're going to need to be able to match fuel with air flow. Adding a better flowing turbo calls for more fuel. More air and fuel calls for better headstuds and etc. Just do a little research before you toss any other parts on.

Sweet, thanks. Im going by the tech upgrade, Im aiming for the 16G upgrade or 20G, I currently have a 255lph and b&m AFPR. So Im sure she is ready for the bigger boost :) but I would like some input on the MAF Translator but thanks for the advice. Im open to all advice :D

Well, as far as the MAF goes, there's not too much input beyond that without getting into fine tuning and the setup of it. Basically, you'll be able to use it for basic tuning of your current setup by adding or subtracting the amount of air that the ECU sees. You can support larger injectors which will, in turn, allow you to run higher boost levels. A GM Maf + Maft is also a bit more accurate and can be placed in the charge piping (after the turbo) where as the stock MAF cannot. This allows for a more accurate reading and allows you to remove your intake snorkel (or route a better one) which really cleans things up.

That's about the gist of it. More research would be needed beyond this.

well in theory a maf-t should work fine for you people say that it works very well with a safc. Personally, i see it as "tricking" the ecu. i would rather go big or go home when it comes to tunning so i would go with a stand alone engine management or dsmlink. but to re-answer your question... go ahead put it on and like xikeiyazi said more air leads to more fuel. do your supporting mods as well and dont over look the small stuff.

Other than translating the output of the GM MAF into something the ECU can understand, the MAF-T does basically the exact same thing as an SAFC, so you don't need both. In a nutshell, you adjust the MAF-T to "lie" to the ECU about how much air is entering the engine, which causes the ECU to inject more/less fuel and change the amount of timing advance (for better or worse).

The MAF-T and SAFC are known as piggyback devices, because they don't really change anything in the tune; they merely trick the ECU into doing something different. Do they work? Yes. Are they the best option for tuning? Not by a long shot.

I still have a GM MAF and MAF-T hooked up, but I use ECMLink for tuning and most of the time I run speed density. The MAF-T is zeroed out and is simply used as a translator for the MAF signal. With the new converter cable that ECMTuning offers for the GM MAF, I wouldn't even be using the MAF-T if I didn't already have it. But... they do work (to an extent) once you figure out how to set them up.

Need a bit of help but i don't want to open a new thread. If I want to use the maft translator as a blow through setup and use the safc to fine tune, do I still need to hook up the white wire? Thanks.
