Your 2 cents on this DSM

My loss is your gain, This car must go by the end of this month 3000.00 or B/0. this is a nice car in good conidition, i have invested over 8000.00 into this motor alone. with about 5k on all parts including the newly built motor and head. The car will need to be towed away, unfortunatly the other day i went out to start the car and there is no power at al when your turn the key, and I no longer have time or money to invest into the vehicle. i am some what flexible with price, and have receipts for all parts and work done on the car. Like i said my loss is your gain, this car must go by the end of this month. The car only has 92k original miles on it as well.

Now for the run down of all the goodies
-Eagle rods and Aries forged pistons .020 over
-SBR stage II race head with comp 101200 cams

I'm seriously considering this car but i'd like to hear others opinions. The owner said he's 95% sure the ignition is bad.

Yeah but i'll be buying a car that i can't listen to, you know? Thats scary. I'm hoping it's something dumb like a relay/battery/alternator.

Buying a car that wont start isn't always a good idea. You could get it running and then find out that its knocking, ect.

I would never pay $3000 for a DSM that isn't running. If the body is in good condition and he has proof of all the work that has supposedly gone into the engine, then $2600 at most.

well it depends how much you like it...it could be something stupid like an alternator,battery etc. because he said he didnt bother to get it checked out now but yet it is a great deal, you should have a mechanic check it out before buying it and see what it is, hate to see you miss a great buy!

I'm trying to understand why he's letting the car go for such a minor problem? He said theres no lights coming on from the dash and the fuel pump won't turn on. I'd like to narrow my search for this problem before i go and check out this car.

ya id make sure 100% that he has the supporting papers when you go to look at it. If he says he only will show serious people than id walk away just my 2 cents

When you go to check out to check the car bring a battery. It sounds like it could be a dead battery. If its not just a dead battery you can hopefully get it to crank and you might be able to hear anything unusual. I would be nervous about buying a car without at least hearing it crank.

parts alone are worth more than his sale price....id take a quick look over it and and look at his receipts. if all else fails and it has all those parts. could prob part it out for more than you paid for it.

If you can get it to crank then bring a compression tester and at least get it compression tested. That will tell you a lot of numbers come back bad.

On top of a non-starting car, how do you know the transmission is even good?

If you do want that, at least bring friend that knows a thing about dsm and mechanic stuff. Also, check for receipts on engine work or anything on the car.

Yea it's risky but you can Probly make some money back on all those goodies plus shell if it's not something your looking for. In my situation I just had, I sold my dsm said the same exact stuff in my ad well orgiannlly I was selling for 900 but next day didnt start so I said take it for 500 I'm to lazy to find problem. He takes it home ext day get a call telling me oh motors blown and what not I mean I felt bad but I ha no idea how that could of happen but anyway that's just my .2 but there are alot of stupid people out there and u can get a steal

come on guys....he could have receipts but how do you know the parts are in THAT car? check compression for sure. like said before, why would you put 10K into a car and not know how to fix it?

Do what I would do to flush out the problem. Ask him to fix it and you'll pay the extra. If he doesn't want to fix it then it means it's a real big problem.
I mean if he did really have that amount of money in the car wouldn't it be logical for him to fix it and sell it to get more then 3 grand.
We probably want to keep it on a down low. He's probably a member here, .

I agree with reply about the alternator, but could be a combination alternator,starter and fuel pump also.

Op, if bought it already.
Tow it to your autozone have them test your starter/alternator plus battery.
