You think I should buy this turbo?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

linky no worky.

three important things about eBay:

is there feedback 100% or close?

what negative comments were left, if any?

do they actually know the turbo? are they a DSMer? do they mention any DSM-specific info about the turbo you're buying? [i.e., shaft play, oil, etc.]

if they qualify for all three, i see no reason not to buy from them. but be wary.

Sorry here is the right link

The feedback is about 300 and its actually pefect and NO negatives at all. He sold a lot of turbos as I can see from feedback and everyone was happy. From description they really know what they are talking about and even reffuured to these boards :) Check the link out and let me know! Also is that turbo just straight bolt on my 97 GSX?

Edit

There is some soft of crack or something on the turbo:
Here is the quote

“
The turbine housing on this turbo is in good, usable condition. It does have several small cracks around the wastegate opening. This should not hinder performance in every day driving, but if all-out power is what you need, you would want to upgrade this exhaust housing. Usually, with these used turbos, the cracks will be so large that the wastegate will not be able to seal, and therefore, never allowing the boost to build properly...This one is not that way, and will allow boost to build properly. The 14B compressor wheel will produce 405 CFM at 15psi (See compressor map below).
“
Is that a bad thing?

You might as well go with a small 16g or an EVO3 16g, for like 200 more at the most, in addition, you will need a 2g install kit "notice it doesn't have a 90 degree elbo" thats what the install kit is for.

In my opinon the guy seems to have a good product but you can buy a better turbo for just a little more.

Either way you have to buy an install kit, those run over a $100.

Thx for any suggestions

I dont know about getting anything from a place called Gpop shop but anyway, you are going to need an install kit if you have a T25 on there right now, the guy selling the turbo obviously doesnt know anything about DSMs because you dont need half the shit he said he got off this site, needed to install the turbo, you surely dont need a built bottom end unless you have an NT, I think thats where this guy was going with this.

Now that I clicked to post it looks like others have responded and already said the same thing I was going to say, you dont need much supporting mods for that turbo, just the oil lines drain line and the J pipe, which is the install Kit. I would ask about a wastegate too because there definetly isnt a wastegate on that turbo. plus the guy posts a 14G compressor map for a 14B

remember though, its rebuilt, most places are going to charge $300 for a rebuild. so you are getting the turbo for $95 polished. But again you can get a 16G for just a little more.

Ya I thought so too! So now I have to decide between T28 and Evo III 16g

If you are just starting to mod your car, you will switch turbos as you get the itch anyway, I went from T25 to 14B to big 16G to 20G to FP Green, so now when I mod, I know that I will start with a 3065 for the street. plus another $12,000 in supporting mods :thumb:

I see everyone posting about install kits and the like but what about the turbo? Im sure it is someone that just does cheap rebuilds at home and no one has even thought about whether they are balanced after the supposed rebuild. For all we know, 1 of his turbos can be built with salvageable parts from 5 differant turbos. He has good feedback but those could have been left after opening the package and seeing the new turbo or even after boosting it a couple of times. I just wonder how many of those people wish they had waited till they put 1k miles on a turbo before they left + feedback. I would just save a little more $ and buy something new for the peace of mind. Just always remember, do it right or do it twice.

Well a T28 would be more of a direct bolt on too. you wouldnt need the install kit, but if I remember correctly, I never look at anything that small, T28s are more anyway then the 16G for just the turbo, either way it will be a huge improvement over a T25. :thumb:

And I totally agree with 92awddsm on that one, only get from a reputable turbo rebuild shop, IE, forced AGP, ive had turbos from texas rebuild and I wasnt impressed.

At first it looked like an awesome deal to me.

The I saw that there is NO WARRANTY!

Screw that, buy an EVO3 16G.

The 14B is about the perfect turbo for STOCK cars though IMHO.

They did a nice job making it LOOK PRETTY though.

Was it balanced upon "rebuild"??

But naah, no warranty turns me the other direction immediately (at that price).

:notgood:
