OK, I've read plenty of threads and VFAQs on this, but there are still 2 parts that I'm trying to decide what to do.

1. The turbo to exhaust manifold bolts/stud. I know it is pretty popular to replace the stud with another bolt (this is the same size bolt as the other 3, correct?). What about replacing the other 3 bolts? I know some people say to replace them. Is this only if yours are all cruded up? Do they get stretched and screwed up over time? Anybody here who didn't replace them but wished they did? Do they need to be OEM, or will stuff from a hardware store work? Also, isn't there a stud on the turbo for the O2 housing as well? Do people replace this is well, or just transfer the stud over to the 16G?

2. The oil feed line - use teflon tape, thread sealant, nothing at all? Again, I'd like to hear more people's experiences on what method they used, if they were successful, and if they would do it another way if they could go back.

Sorry for so many questions! Thanks.

if you are going to replace the bolts they have to be OEM bolts, hardware store bolts wont work. Also i use no sealant on my feed lines, dont want anything to get clogged. AN fittings dont leak because they are tapered.

If the hardware store bolts don't work then the 6 turbos I have installed this year must not be working. They are cheap and come in many varieties and grades. I use hardware bolts everytime. They are new and I am already pulling the old ones so why not. Don't use any sealant/tape. The install kits out there work fine. Just pull the stud if you have the means to. It makes things easier down the road.

If you do reuse anything, chase all threads and clean all bolts with a tap and die set. It will ensure a good seal. Plus there is the extra step to prevent them from stripping and breaking.

When doing my evo3 install i went with stainless manifold studs, and then oem manifold to turbo as well as oem turbo to o2 housing. I replaces my o2 housing bolts with stainless as well. I went through ssstuds.com for stainless and then dsmotorsport.com for the oem bolts. I feel better about having new, quality parts on my car. For the long run, I think it's worth it. As far as the oil line. If you are using an fittings you do not need sealent or tape, just a touch of oil on the threads for when you tighten it.
