i was driving home tonight from work, got on it alittle bit and heard a weird sound. thought my tire got a flat or somthing, pulled over and i noticed white smoke was POURING out of my exhaust (it doesnt stop, and smells really bad). turbo isnt spooling and i have next to no oil.

im guessing its either the turbo itself or the gasket? i have no F^@%@ clue

anyhelp would be awesome. and what do u think it will cost me to fix it?

thnx, josh

Sounds like the turbo blew. Pull the intake pipe and check for shaft play and or oil in the lines. You may also need to check the exhaust side but should be able to tell from the intake side. You can have it rebuilt or better yet upgrade.

pull off the intake pipe and jiggle the compressor wheel. If it moves alot, kiss that t-25 bye bye.

you can pick a t25 up pretty cheap for a direct swap. 14b will give you a little more power but spend just a tad more.

Seems like it's time to ditch that T-25. Just upgrade to an MHI E316G, they're pretty cheap nowadays.

That's an EVOIII 16G. You can run them at low boost on a stock fuel system. Most of the site vendors will carry that turbo and it is a huge upgrade from stock for a small price. Good luck :thumb:

You will need fuel mods and some form of tuning (at a minimum) to take full advantage of the turbo but the performance increase will be substantial and will put a smile on your face. But if you are low on funds and just want to get your car running you can use the turbo with the stock fuel system for now. You just have to keep the boost down. You will however need a 2G install kit with the turbo.

Did you get a chance yet to pull the intake and check the turbo?

FP has their 16g's on sale right now for 449$ Maybe you should think about picking one up, you are getting your income tax back soon righhhhhhhhhhhht :thumb:

Ok i checked it out, wheel moves easily and oil is all inside my intake and small splatters all around the area inside the engine bay.

is thier anything else i need besides a new turbo ?

As long as little bits and pieces of the compressor wheel didn't break off and go flying into your engine, you should be fine with replacing the turbo.

As mentioned, a 16g of some sort is a good upgrade that doesn't require the full compliment of supporting mods. You can get away with stock injectors on low boost, but to use the turbo, you'll want 550's (at minimum), a 190lph pump (but the rewired stock one will suffice for now), something to tune with (SAFC works fine for the 16g) and the patience to run low boost until you take care of some of these supporting mods.

If your on a tight budget, i would just go with a 14b.... it will give you a better kick... and you could ###### grab one in classifides for around 150ish

The main problem with purchasing a 14b is that the vast majority of them have seen quite a bit of use. The turbine housings frequently have cracks and you can't accurately assess the health of the bearings. In short, many of them are on the way out and you really can't predict how much longer a particular one is going to last.

Like some of the previous guys I would recommend the Evo 3 16G. It's a great street turbo. It's hits harder than and blows significantly more air all the way to redline than a 14b. When I got mine from turbochargers.com it was the same price as the small 16G and B16G. I don't know if that is still the case though.
