wtf just happened to my car??? Please help

ok so I was just driving my car and all of a sudden it started shaking violently when in gear. It wasn't all the time just quite often. It felt like it was missing heacily when the problem was happening. At one point I could hear backfires coming from my exhaust. I turned the car off and on and it fires right up and idles wonderfully at 700 rpms with the same amount of vac as before. I then gave it a few revs and I hear a rattling coming from the engine bay. It wasn't all the time just when it was revved up and for a certain time. Not the WHOLE time it was being revved. When it was mising on the highway the tachometer needle would jump every time. Like about 500 rpm jumps when it missed. What the hell could this be? Could it be a bad cool not sendin the signal at all times? Bad transmission? I don't understand why it would be ratteling even if it was a cool or ignition related omponent. Please help and I'll be so grateful.
 
You really should listen to the people trying to help. Quite a few people said to pull the pan and inspect the bottom end. And you ignored it. Now your motor is seized up.

You fixed an ignition issue, which is completely pointless when your motor was knocking. And continued to drive it with it still knocking. Not the smartest thing to do.

correction to the above post i have not drove the car for a long time, the last time i drove the car the knock was not as prevalent and was sporadic. I have started it up to listen to exactly where its coming from and thats it, i did follow what people did say to drain the oil. THERE WERE NO METAL FLAKES OF ANY KIND. I didnt think i needed to pull the pan because from what i had read from people on here and over the internet is that there would have been flakes that look like glitter, or portions of a bearing. Thats why i didnt think its a bearing, also i have a 2.4l on the way soon anyhow so i wont be out for too long. Im gonna keep trying to figure out what has happened. Pulling the pan next weekend when i have time./
 
ya im gonna drop the oil pan as soon as i get some time, see what really happened, im gonna need to get the car ready for the new 2.4l 4g64 setup as well. Pull the head off and intakes and separate the block from the tranny and pull it, cant wait for the 2.4l just shitty it had to go like this!
 
same BS just happen to my car today :mad: i automatically assusmed the worse cause of how much shaking and rattling the car was doing.

i know its the coil for sure cause when i shake it around it sounds like a type writer. i do however get spark to all 4 cylinders. ill just go ahead and do some tests...
