I just got my car dropped earlier today and i had the goldline springs with the tokico shocks, the garage that did them did the back two and the left front but not the front right becasue he said its prob going to need a new swaybar or something, but thats not the problem...i was driving and i kept hearing a bang and i popped my trunk and i think it was the shock and it was sticking out and banging against my hatch everytime i hit a bump....it sounded bad everytime...so im stuck with this prob now.....questoins are wat do u think happened and should i still drive my car, i was told that the only thing it can do is shatter my back window, but i would appreciate others opinions, thanks in advance

sounds like they forgot to trim the bumpstops that would make that sound, ask them if they trimmed them when they installed them and if they didnt make them do it

you would have to ask somebody else, I'm pretty sure the shock is just bottoming out on the bumpstop if that infact is the problem, you would have to get another opinion for that

i dont understand how they would forget to cut the bumstops but take a look at them you should be able to tell if they were cut. the only other thing it can be is that your strut bolt is loose.

uncut bump stops wouldn't cause the problem.

I'm thinking that they didn't put that metal sleeve back on..

Bing Bing Bing! We have a winner.

ps. we have more than enough travel in the rear; cutting rear bumpstops is rarely necessary

I think u are exactly right, some guy looked at it for me and he said something similar, these people are supposed to be professional, i talked to the guy he said to go back on monday, i drove it a little and everytime i hit a bump i cringed it was such a horrible sound, but hopefully it will be taken care of....thanks for the help

its all set i went back today, everything is good, thanks everybody for the help

hopefully you handled it better then I would have.

I have a tendency to breath fire and shoot laser beams out of my eyes when faced with stupidity like that :)

If you want to be helpful, post what the problem was and how it was corrected. Otherwise this is another WTF dead-end thread.

well im not exaclty i dsmwiseman, but ill try to explain it as best as possible, when they were putting my springs and shocks in, the guy took out the old spring and i dont know for sure wat it was but its a type of sleeve and he forgot it in the old spring....so it wasn't really held down by anything so it went into the trunk and made it lower on that side of the car, he simple took the shock and spring apart and put the sleeve in and its prefectly fine now

i did that mistake myself on my old car. there is a metal plate that goes on top of the strut but under the the car that prevents the strut from traveling inside the trunk.
must of been a newbie in training that did your car.
don't drive it lke that.
