My car has been running rich and wont rev over 4k for about a month now. I have been all over the forums for weeks now. I think i finally found out why that is. I looked at my ecu a few weeks ago but didnt look at it close enough. Today i looked at the capacitors and i saw a brown spot by the injectors and a few other leaky looking spots. So i thought ok time for a new ecu. As im looking for a new ecu on vfaqs my part number is MD165531 which is a Federal AT awd and my car is an manual awd. Would this be causing all the fuel and rev problems? i can swap any ecu that is 1g turbo awd MT or fwd correct?

Nobody knows:confused:?

im having the same exact problem like you

i had a bad ecu blown capacitor and replaced it whit a nother one from a friend and the same ting happens
and my idlee is bad too

im whaiting from a nother ecu to test in the time beeing i found a nice boost leak at the blow of valve

fix that new the car gets to 5000 rpms buth there is no boost only in neutral at 4000 in gear it cuts power

im checking for boost leaks and im getting a new ecu soon

il let you know if i found whats going on

are you getting these simptoms

dosent idlle right
runs rich like a fat pig
cant past 4000 rpms (whance you get in boost just cuts power )

im tinking ecu or boost leak on mine

Yea im getting two of those symptoms except it idles fine. Im thinking its the ecu because i read that the AT ecu are caibrated for 390s injectors and i have 450s. I dont know if it makes a difference even if i change the injector size with the maft. I do have some capacitors that leaked also. No one has told me otherwise so i guess i will just have to get another ecu and find out for myself:cry:

Im doing a AT to manual swap on mine with a GM maft setup and it has 450cc inj does this mean i will need to get a new ecu too?

The difference in injector flow rates between the 390 with an AT FPR and the 450s with a MT FPR is minor. 390cc vs 411cc Trying to diagnose problem when you have a bad ECU is almost pointless since the ECU could be the main issue.

First thing would be to check and see what's actually inside the ECU case and look to see if it's an EPROM ECU. On the white connector there should be a four digit number. If the board matches the case those four digits will be the same as the last four digits of the E2T number on the case. If not you can use them as a cross reference to find out what ECU you really have.

There are lots of junk ECUs out there when people swap the cases or throw anything in the car to get it running to sell it. Since you can change the software on an EPROM ECU it doesn't matter much which turbo car it came out of 91-94, the 90 ECUs are slightly different.

So what about the not reving over 4k? Has to be something with the ecu right? Boost leak wouldnt cause it not to rev over 4k would it? Plus i have a brown spot on the bottom of the capacitor and some leaking.
