I hope someone can please help me out:
91 Non-turbo GS, 2.0L 4G63 5-speed manual
Had a high idle issue at one point and my mechanic was able to bring it down to normal range. Then the ECU burnt out a few months later. Yeah, I have no idea how the hell that happened.
So what I did to replace it was take the burnt-out ECU and do a search on eBay for an ECU with matching numbers on that little bar-code sticker on it: MD166255 and then in smaller print, E2T36572. I have a feeling that this was where I screwed up, but I'm not sure.
I found one and had my mechanic install it. Ever since then, the car hasn't been running right at all. When you start it, you have to immediately give it gas, or it dies. When you DO give it gas, the RPMs seem to surge upwards a little.
I guess my question is: Did I do the right thing by using those numbers on the old ECU to try and get the correct replacement? I haven't been able to drive my 1G for months now and I really miss it.
