i just found out i have the wrong ecu in my car, could this be why im have so many transmission problems.was getting ready to send my car to a mechanic today , ihave replace clucth master cylinder and slave cylinder and my car well stil not change gears with the car running.I just recently bought the car and the guy i bought it from put a cluth ,through out bearing, and pressure plate in the car.then he went to junk yard and got an ecu out of a (91) 2 wheel drive automatic car because he thoght it was compatible. he could not get the car moving so i bought it.the car is a 91 talon allwheel drive turbo with 5 speed trans. any suggestions would be great.

the ECU in a manual car has nothing to do with how the transmission shifts I would be looking elsewhere for your problem

thanks for the replies.i will send it to the mechanic and let him take the trans out and see what the problem with the trans.but what should i do about the ecu are there any that are interchangeable with my year.what i mean is does my ecu have to be one for my exact car.awd,turbo,manual-or does it make a difference.i have been doing some reading on this site and have notice after my car runs for about 15 minuets the engine starts missing and the idle becomes rough.or is there a upgraded ecu i can buy from somewhere.thanks.

automatic cars use a different map for their fuel curves because they use a different injector, this cannot help your car in any way. Your best bet is just to get a 91-94 MT turbo ecu (awd/fwd doesnt matter). Why not pull the tranny yourself ;)

i dont have a garage.i can do allot of stuff in my driveway but afraid of trying to pull it out trans in my driveway.I also dont have the time right now(work is busy). And i just cant wait to get this running so i can start with the mods.I use to have a 97 awd turbo and the car was bad a##( well it was my mothers) they sold the car about 5 years ago and would not sell it to me because i had a family and they thought i would either wreck or get alot of tickets.well now im 30 years old and ready to have some fun.thanks for the input will look into a new ecu now, thanks again

can someone tell me if this part number is for a turbo #MD166262 or a place i can go to find out thanks.
