Alright so about a week ago I noticed some oil some out my tail pipe and finally got aronds to checking stuff. So 1st I pull the I/C piping off at the throttle body and stuck my finger down a far as possible and wipped the inside, well pulled me finger out and worse thing ever was there metal chunks. So then I unbolt the intake pipe to the turbo and see this.........

then I checked the shaft play and holy sh** there was about 1/2 inch of play up and down. Luckly I have another 14b in my garage. Now suprisingly it was still boosting 10psi and running so I'm thinking that nothing else is screwed up??? what do you think

yeah i would deff take your oil pan off and possibly run a magnet threw it to pick up all of the shavings i never did it but its the same consept as a magnetic oil plug

if we didnt want to have to work on our cars we would have bought HONDAS!!:dsm::talon::laser:

it looks like you sat there and said, i am bored. went and bought a file and went to work. that turbo is ####ed up man. i had this happen to me. they are not lying, is not going to last. after that crap with the turbo happened,i think my engine lasted like 2 months. well, good luck with that.

Oh man that sucks,

I had the same thing happen to my 14b, rebuilt. Had it like a month and it did that on my way down to Carlisle, PA for their show. Guess what, I kept running it half way down and the whole trip back. Dumb dumb I know, but the damage was done. Luckily, I got back and cleaned out the FMIC and the piping, got a new turbo, and it has been running absolutely fine for... hmm.. a year now. No smoking, didn't notice any shavings in the oil.

Hopefully everything stays that way! Good luck to you also.

Wow... This IS sucks LOL

if i were you ild change my oil, maybe do a flush. then do it again. get a magnet. a big one. and stick it on your oil pan near the plug. and hope that helps gather chips/shavings... and you might just be able to keep that car alive for a bit longer.

Metal shavings in the engine are not a good thing. Hopefully there will be no major damage. Make sure you change the oil and check for shavings. Good luck.

If I could have a dollar for everytime I've heard that said...

But anyways to the OP I have to agree flush your oil and take off the oil cooler and give it a GOOD cleaning, because since if were talking about a 90 DSM then you probaly have and Air to Air oil cooler and those passage ways in that cooler are quite handy in collecting all that metal your going to be trying to get out.

so me and my cousin took apart that motor that was in his(iwanntgofast) car and heres what we find

Most of this I think was from the previos owner of my car being that there was a hairline crack in the block and we just threw some JB weld over it and not taking off the oil pan
