I found out that my exhaust manifold is taking a crap...There's a hole in the upper right hand corner of the manifold and with high heat, this hole will get bigger and bigger to where it will not be compatible anymore...

my question is..should I take the money to buy a better exhaust manifold

OR

replace the exhaust manifold with headers...

Which of these is better overall?

If so, where is a good site for some good headers

AND

Will the headers be compatible with a bolt on port polished 02 housing?

Headers have issues with cracking under the repeated heat cycling of daily driving. I would pick up a new cast manifold as you won't be sacrificing any performance by going with a cast piece. People have run 10's on them so have at it. If you're looking for an inexpensive one, turbochargers.com has them for $149.00 and that'll work fine for your application.

Keep in mind that the crack you have now is a definite performance killer as are any cracks before the O2 housing.

ok thanks but I was actually looking to buy an upgraded manifold from the stock GS-T manifold.

I was thinking an upgraded nice chrome manifold will cost around 400 dollars easy but money is not an issue...

I already had the Transmission rebuilt and therefore I will also get the engine rebuilt but as of right now my car only has 104,000 miles on it.

Im just wondering where I can find a good upgraded manifold

Also, the guy that rebuilt my transmission replaced every single part inside the transmission..even the parts in there that are still working correctly were replaced..the only thing that was not replaced was the shell of the transmission which does not really do much maintenance wise besides keeping it bolted up under the car..

My question is, is my transmission considered to be brand new?

why?

Thanks guys

The one he suggested was an upgrade to what you already have. Look on their site. It may look similar, but the runners are bigger, and it flows better. If you're really looking for a tubular manifold, I'd suggest a DNP since you say money is not an issue. But if it were me, I'd just get a cast manifold.

You're missing the point. As mentioned above a new cast manifold IS an upgrade whether it comes from T-Chargers or SBR. A stainless header is NOT a good idea as they are prone to cracking from the heating and cooling cycles a daily driver experiences. If you were to buy one that was top of the line with superior construction that would resist cracking, you'd need to double the $400 you were about to spend.

I don't know how else to put it.

I would go with the GT manifold from DSMParts.com (there are other retailers out there)

Right now they have a sale price of only $169 (regular price of $300)

Supposedly flow better than 2G ported/EVO III mani's?! It even comes with a new 7cm turbo to mani. gasket.

I haven't heard too many bad things about it.....At this price I may be purchasing one myself to replace my tired 2G ported mani. Just be sure to replace your mani to block gasket. I'd also consider changing out the turbo mounting hardware as well.

for a daily driver, i'd go with a cast manifold over a tubular anyday.....more resistance to heat cycling, stress cracking, and in some cases, corrosion.

Yeah get one of the ones suggested above. However, the 2g manifold, even unported, can run 10s :)

Off topic: why does it say that the gt manifod with not fit automatic dsms? (that manifold looks ALOT like the evo 3;) )

Why was the entire inside of you tranny replaced? I you got sold on that, how much did you pay? I understand cash may be no thing for you, but ever heard the saying, if it aint broke, don't fix it? I would consider your tranny rebuilt because it is not brand new.
