Okay,
So I made some ducting for my coolers and a pretty nice splitter/airdam setup:

Now I need a proper rear wing, anybody know of one that'll work for competition?

Looking good Aaron! that things gonna be an evo-beater in no time.

(BTW, track day in gingerman saturday, bunch of us from point are goin, short notice but you should come.)

Good work. I've similar plans in my head for my race car.

I'd put a vent in the hood to give that air someplace to flow out of the engine. You don't want it under the car or you'll have front end lift. Carbontrix has a nice vent that many DSM'ers have had great success with.

As mentioned before the APR wing is considered to be very effective with little drag. A friend with a Stealth (he does telemetry for his day job) measured the downforce and drag of the GTC-300 and 500 wings. He found both had the best results when mounted almost level with the roof. The 500 handily edged out the 300 in downforce.

APR Performance - GTC-500 Adjustable Wing

For the person creating their own splitter/ducting I'm going to guess that a 1500$ wing is out of the question.

I would try use an adjustable one and then use the tufts of yarn method to adjust it at speed. Some of the cheaper APR wings are adjustable, as well as a variety of other companies. You won't have as much downforce with as little drag, but for tight courses you can crank up the downforce, and for fast courses you can eliminate some of the drag allowing you to adapt the aero for the track.

In my opinion, as long as you can get some real downforce on the rear of the car, you should be fine. just make sure to brace the wing to the unibody rather than just mounting it on the hatch lid.

I like that you retained the sidemount. Maybe next year I am going to try to do some similar aero to the front of my Talon. I have a Hahn smic that I really like and want to keep it but want to try to channel some more air flow towards it; like you have done.:talon:

Thanks for all the comments and info.

stealthTT: Dang, that's a big wing! I was tilting towards the GTC-200 or GT-II.
Is the GTC-500 just the better wing period? If so I'll get it, but it'll have to wait a bit due to price.

Also, my hood has a fancy heat extractor hole built into it...I may stick another one in there though

drivemusicnow says: "be sure to brace the wing to the unibody rather than just mounting it on the hatch lid. "

Should I get a wing with a wide stance (wing supports that straddle the hatch) Is that what you mean?

If you can... Otherwise you have to go through the hatch to the structural members, or behind the hatch to the rear bumper support/mounts.Mine straddles the hath perfectly, and mounts under neath to the frame.

Remember just like the front splitter, the more surface area you can expose to clean air the more benefit you'll gain.

I'd be afraid of accidentally welding a hole thru it. You're a madman! A crazy person! I dig it! I'd like to see a pic of your front end without the front clip on. Is that lowest lip aluminum? I have had some problems finding larger pieces of aluminum that size. Where did you find the struts? I have been looking for a set of those. Is this a purpose built race machine? I would have a hard time getting out of my driveway with a lip that low and that far forward. You should upload some of these photos to your gallery. Great work! I like that you built it burly as all hell! I also did some aero modifications to my Talon but as of now I am limited to working with rivets and fiberglass.

I picked up 3 of those supports from www.hrpworld.com still don't have a use for them and probably never will since i'm trying to sell the car.

The main sheet holding the fiberglass to the car is 3/16" thick.
I got it at a local metal fab place, the cost for the one sheet
& the two 45 deg. bends was $210!

bmoha2,
When I get off my ship in six months, (I work in the engine room) I'd be willing to
fab something more streetable for your car.
