Hey there guys. Heres my problem...I have a '93 Talon N/T w/ a 4G63, my 7 bolt block went bad and I got this cheap 6 bolt turbo block off a friend out of his old '90 GST Eclipse. I rebuilt the whole block with new crank, Balance shaft and all other nessasary parts to refresh the block completly. I am just wondering what problems Iam going to have when reassembalin my motor? Will it even work, becasue as far as I know, Iam the first to do this block swap deal. Please Help me! Thanks in adavance, I'll b on mostly all night waiting for answers...so whatever you need just ask. Thanks again. >Jamie<

it should be a huge ordeal.. are you planning on keeping it nt or converting it to a turbo? thats the largest issue.. if not then everything should bolt up and your set..

theres a NT forum on there this may be better suited too also REMOVE THOSE BALANCE SHAFT'S!! do it now !

Well, I have hopes of putting the T25 stock 2G turbo setup on once it came back from the garage, but that is a deifferant project, I've done all that research and know how to do that, and I have a donar 2G I'll rape for parts, but you don't think their going to run into any problems while putting the motor back together i.e. flywheel attachment, the fact of N/T 4G63 9:1 comp. vs. the 7:8:1 turbo comp.? someone told me I'll run slower, this dosent make me happy either! Any truth behind this? As for the balance shaft removal, I just don't have the funds at all right now for the eliminator kit, after all this whole block swap ordeal is costing me around $2000 for labor as is not including parts...so any extra pennys I can save, I will. Ill pull the motor myself LATER to remove the b.s's. Anyways, any one else have any ideas of what Iam gunna be looking at for problems during reassembally? BTW the oil to turbo/squirters/feeds etc. from the block will be taken care of by my mechanic and yes he's aware it's a turbo block. :talon:

Turbo motor is 7.8:1. Are you putting a turbo stock block in as a n/t? If you're keeping those 7.8:1 pistons and no turbo, it'll be s-l-o-w.

7:8:1 my bad, type-o. But no, I plan on keeping my N/T pistons. Is this a problem? I diddn't think it would be a problem. Also I know that the 90-92 N/T 4G63's came with the 6 bolt block-N/T, if that sparks up anyones brain cells. Also, I am thinking the only thing I might have to do is purchase a 6 bolt flywheel? Iam clueless as of right now, I know just as much about DSM's as the next guy, but this has got me stumped. Well, good thing is I checked back up today and no problems so far with reassembally, although the motor still isn't back in my Talon. Any more ideas keep em flowing. :talon:

Before you put the block back together, have it checked for roundness and taper (and get it rehoned). It would suck to put all this work to putting that engine back together only to have low compression from worn cylinder walls being unable to seal the rings properly.

Yes, the block was re-honed, brand new knife edge crankshaft, balance shaft, everything, its virtually a brand new block. My mechanic just left me message on my phone saying to call him back tomarrow. This could either be good or bad...most likely bad. I might as well just go down their with my toolbox and ask him to let ME finish the project so I dont spend abagillion dollars on this labor...haha. $55 an hour...I guess it could be worse, it could be a damn Volkswagen! :talon:

UPDATE: Well, finally, my shop got the motor back together, wen't to go put it in the car, tried to turn over the crank, nothing, wont turn at all from what I heard. It's at the machine shop right now. Any ideas of whats happening? :talon:
