ok, i had a knock in the motor and wasnt sure if it was in the top or bottom end. first, i took the VC and pulled the cams out to check roller rockers and all that crap. it was all fine so i re-installed everything. so then i took the oilpan off and sure enough is was a bearing. replaced it, put the car all back together and it turns over but wont start. it started for about 5 seconds once but thats it. the car was running when i parked it and replaced that bearing. its getting fuel and spark. so, maybe something with the camshaft adjusting? ive tried messing with it in both directions and nothing still. nothing else was touched while doing all this so i doubt its anything to do with anything on the TB. anyone ever have this problem? and its a 94 gs. thanks

Pull the valve cover and make sure you installed the cams correctly (didn't get the intake and exhaust cams mixed up) and triple check your timing. Those would be my best guesses from what you describing.

timing should be good. never ever took the gears out of the belt. and i couldnt have mixed the cams up cause only one has the slot on the end for the camshaft sensor right?

you never took the gears off the belt? So how do you know it didn't jump time at the crank?

+1 on check timing. that can NEVER hurt being your first check on these. Even if the problem doesn't seem to be at all related, it can never hurt to make sure it's still good. better safe than sorry.

After that (assuming it's in time when you check it) check your cam angle sensor. I just put another motor in my car and that was the problem. All the electronics were working when they came out, but when i put it all back together it did exactly that, started once for a couple seconds and after that nothing.

Any time it's a no start go back to basics.
1)Check Timing Belt
2)Check For Spark
3)Check For Fuel

99% of the time if you have all of these it should at least start. may not run well but you can do further diagnostics from there.
