ok its the old story of a cheap dsm purchased because the dealers idiot mech doesnt know what hes doing, well i drove it home, no boost, i have put in a centersection from a friends turbo that was boosting well but had a bad comp wheel, and used my good comp wheel, no boost, checked vacume lines, no boost, checked the actuator and wastegate, both are ok, even took off the exhaust in case the cat was so cloged it wouldnt let enough air flow for it to spool, no luck, any ideas people, the turbo does spin freely, almost no shaftplay at all, any ideas, btw its a 91 fwd eclipse gs, great compresion

ok i dont know wtf i was thinking earlier, being the car isnt registered i wasnt trying to drive on the street and just reved up past 3 grand and let out the clutch a little to give the engine a load, well i said screw it and drove it with the exhaust off at the 02 housing and i just made 7lbs, i know its not much but now i figured it prolly needs some back presure, so sunday, well yes, im going to change exhaust with my parts car since i know its cat is already knocked out, also a boost controller will be on soon and i might even redo the head since i have another one with good valve seals laying around

It sounds to me that your wastegate actuator is messed up. On my DD laser I was getting ~7 lbs of boost when I forst got the car. I wasnt too worried about it because it was my DD but it gradually got to the point where it was boosting only to 0PSI. I finally took the turbo off and it looked like it was in great condition, BUT the wastegate was all smashed in. I'm not sure how it happened or why it happened gradually, but good luck with whatever you come across.

I run a turbo back catless pipe so back pressure is the wrong answer, I would check the Wasgate actuator and see if it is bent or something, then check to see if your IC pipes are still on and the IC pipes don't have holes in them.

I almost forgot. Another commonly over looked boost leak is the stock side mount intercooler. Take it off and clean it out and inspect it thouroughly for leaks. They like to rust around the inlets\outlets and cause almost undetectable leaks until you take it off and physically look at it. Good luck!

well a little exhaust may help,,,,see when i say i ran it with no exhaust,,i meant that litteally, i took it off at the 02 housing, but the wastegate flap, actuator, all that is fine, so is the vacume tubing, ect, and with exhaust on it wont boost at all, as in the cat is probably bad, and not letting it flow enough around the turbo to get it to spool, i had an RX-7 that had the cat go out in it really fast and i couldnt figure out why it ran like crap, slow, and had a top speed of 55 with the pedal floored, then i had a custom exhaust put in and was like holy crap this thing is fast!
