Ok, I need a temporary solution for my radiator fan just threw in a 14" and don't have time for a new temp sensor until this weekend, so I just need to run it to a 12v source. My question is, will it be safe to just use the 12v line that used to run to the BCS and ground to the frame?

well the factory plug puts out 12v but for some reason it doesnt supply power, is there a relay or something somewhere that activates when coolant reaches a certain temp?

If you look closely at the stock fan harness you will see that there's a coolant temperature sensor that plugs into the bottom of your radiator which acts as a trigger for the fans. I just cut the plug off the stock fan, wired my new fan to it and used the original plug. Did you get that 9" fan like you planed? Still over heating?

No more overheating (gave back the borrowed small fan and am using a nice big 14") but my car took a crap and died, no spark, no idea why and didn't have time to look at it so it's down the block at the mechanics. I understand that there is the temp sensor line that runs to the plug at the bottom of the radiator, 2 wires for that and the 2 for power/ground from the fan itself, what I'm saying is that either my temp sensor isn't working or some relay/fuse blew because the fan doesn't turn on when hooked up how it's supposed to be, as in the car will just continue to heat up without the fans turning on.

For power temporarily, since I need the car as a daily driver, currently there is no more BCS due to use of an MBC I just used that 12v line that used to run to the BCS (red one) to the power of the fan, since it only comes on with ignition (very convenient location as well). I'm just wondering if I fried the ECU or something by doing this, although it ran fine for about a week beforehand. If so, I guess it's a good excuse for an early upgrade to EPROM ROFL

But, I was having trouble with electricity in that under the load of just the headlights being on, using my signal would cause all the lights to dim in and out. Any idea what causes this? Battery connected fine, terminals fine, grounds fine (so far as this newbie can tell).

alright cool ill give that a shot when i get my car back or find out whats wrong with it, is the fan safe being wired to where it is currently though?

If you found out that fuses were blown then I would said the answer is no. I would look into why the fan will not turn on when wired into the original harness, I suspect fuse as well.

alright ill take a look, originally burned out my 20a fuse for the a/c switch fan trying to wire it in, maybe just need a 30a wherever the stock location one goes, we shall see.... whats a blown fuse look like anyway? this is the first time ive ever done any electric work..
