Just out of curiosity, have any of the 2G guys tried out this app? I saw several threads from a year or two back asking about this possibility. The hardware is relatively expensive compared to a palm etc... but it looks decent if you already own an iTouch.

PLX Kiwi Wifi - Connect your iPhone / iPod Touch to your car's OBD2 OBDII Port.

I'm not very good with programming, only having some basic C++ knowledge, but would it be possible to run ECMlink (linux version) on an iTouch operating linux? I guess the trick is making a custom cable interface...?

Guess its just some food for thought... :hmm:

but if you can't get into the forums since you don't have dsmlink heres what twdorris the dsmlink guru posted about the iphone being compatible with link.

"The problem will be getting a serial connection from the iPhone. I'm assuming the iPhone provides a USB slave interface. That is, it's intended to connect to a host PC. The host has hardware and drivers and such that recognize the slave device. If the iPhone does not have provisions to talk to slave USB devices (like a USB/DB9 adapter), then your only hope will be that the iPhone provides a good old fashioned serial interface of some sort."

id be SO pumped if my iphone could run the ecmlink software since i always have my phone on me, my laptop doesn't exactly fit in my back pocket.

Thanks gofer, I couldn't view the forum but I assumed that the topic had been discussed. It would definitely simplify having to use a laptop because if you have an iPhone or iTouch its almost ALWAYS with you LOL. Over wireless the iTouch can control my iTunes, act as wireless mouse, and a tv remote. It just seems like with the right programming you could utilize that functionality to change tables etc in ECU...? Because this stuff doesn't even use a cable it uses that wireless adapter. Dam I should've paid more attention in programming...
