I seem to be having a problem with my driverside wiper. At 65 or faster or with a strong headwind, my wiper floats off the windshield on the way back down. Does anyone else have this problem and what have they done aboot it? I know that my mothers old audi's had a little winglet on the driver side wiper I wonder if I could get one that fits my car?

Rain-X.

I think it's Anco that makes an "Aero" series wiper that's supposed to be good at staying down without looking dopey. Since it's the time of year to be getting fresh blades anyway, look over the racks and see what's out there.

You may get more noise from blade friction if you try to add pressure.

I have the same problem
but i just try to slow down a little below 70...when it s rainin hard cause i don t have good tires...
but to solve the problem i think i saw at canadian tire somethin that looked liked to be the same mechanism as a clothes pin , and that would go in the wiper and it supposed to help it stick to the windshield ... somethin like that...
hope that helped

My main concern is not for street racing in the rain, but for freeway driving up and down the pass this year for snowboarding. Granted its not going to be raining the whole time but I would like to have some peace of mind in knowing that Im gonna be able to see if I run into a squall at 80mph and need my wipers. Or if Im drafting someone and Id like to be able to see around them for the impending brake lights. You know what I mean. Better to be as safe as possible while breaking the law than to just be 100% stupid. I think Im just gonna go with the Audi version. Im not quite so concerned about wiper noise. Id rather be able to see anyway.

The springs that hold the wiper down can also fatigue. After 14 years they could be getting a little weak.

I have this waterless car wash stuff that is awsome. It emulsifies the dirt on the car into a jewelers rouge of sorts and polishes the paint. Its good for glass too. When I put that stuff on it is actually better than rain x IMO. I do like the effect it brings when Im the only person on the road. But unfortunatly, with either product it is useless while in traffic. I think Ive lost all ambition on this particular car though due to the fact that there is soo much that is worn out on it. Literally every part has to be replaced on the car so I think I'll be looking for my next DSM in the next few months. My turbo screams like its gonna die, my motor mounts are broken off the block, theres no timing belt cover to speak of and the suspesion's shot. I love the old girl but its just not worth it anymore. I'll be keeping all of these things in mind for my next one though and I thank you all for your help and tutilage. Im gonna do this wiper mod though and drive the car in to the dirt.
