Took it to a shop to replace motor/regulator. It's not either of those. They past their tests. The switches work. They cant diagnose the issue. Any ideas?

You can use an auxillary source to go up and down..It's got to be your switch, or wiring.

Switches get old, and the contacts gets covered in crap after years of use. I have cleaned up the inside of a few switches, and never had a problem since.

they tested the connections and they are getting power. the window rolls down but not up.
I don't know if this has anything to do with it but my power locks don't work either. I can hear a click when I push the lock button but nothing happens. Its a convertible and the other three windows roll up and down. Its just the one window (pass. front)

OK thanks. I think I'm going to tell them to wrap it up and call it a day.
what did you use to clean them out?

I think I used q tips, and baking soda..The contacts are copper, and they get that green crap on them..Which causus them to not work. It's pretty simple once you get the switch apart.

oh ok. water/baking soda just like a battery then?
thanks for your help. ill try that when i get it back. hopefully that works.

try making sure that the screw or whatever is set or that the window stays on the track, if one window wont go up sometimes that would be it but none idk, i used to have to pull my window back and then hit the switch then pull it again till it would go up, pita, why not go back to none power windows?

Alrighty... back to this... got a used window switch to hopefully fix the issue. It did not work. I have determined the Pass. window will not respond to the driver switch at all. not up or down. It does how ever roll down when I put the top down and down when I using the pass. switch but never up unless connected to an external battery. any other ideas?

Mine doesn't like to roll up unless I pull it by hand and use the pass switch. It doesn't go up at all with the dr side switch, but it will go down. The car has to be running so it has more voltage. I have replaced the motor/regulator, switch, tightened & adjusted the slides, greased everything, blah blah blah.

Have you checked for voltage at the pass side window when you are pushing the button on the dr side? I know mine gets voltage, just doesn't have enough juice to move the window.

I am gonna run a fused 10ga wire from the battery to whatever signal wire actually activates the motor. I am convinced its a voltage drop issue. Maybe even get a voltage booster so it gets like 15v and the window flys up! I am effing tired of it, but my time & energy keeps going under the hood. I think I'm addicted :D

Is it the passenger window? If so, which switch did you replace? My Talon had the same issue with the passenger window. It would go down only. It was the driver's door switch that I replaced and that fixed it.

I would start bypassing devices then. Like start with the window motor and supply power to the pins (for the motor coil) in the connector. Maybe jump the switch contacts with wire, probe around with a test light etc

I'd like to note if anyone takes apart the window switches to clean them and the spring flies out into beyond, have no fear. Find and take apart a lighter and use the spring out of it for a replacement. Just about perfectly identical (besides having to cut the spring a bit to make it shorter) :thumb:

yes I replaced the driver switch. and do you know which wires on the passenger door are for the window before the switch? maybe i can get just the driver switch to work. thats fine with me.

Alrighty back to this. I have some new info. I was messing around with my test light and found that when I use the main switch it puts out power(going up for sure, not sure about down) when I had the idea to pull the plastic clip piece off (the point of connection between the switch and the window motor itself). when I reverse the connections the down switch will roll up the window but up will not roll it down. When I put it back to how it's supposed to then down rolls down and up does nothing. Like I said earlier Iv switched out a used main switch on the driver door and it made no difference. could it be the passenger switch? or is it other wiring?

i did reverse the wires... thats why i pulled the plastic piece off and figured out that the trigger works down but not up no matter what way the wires are put together. i just dont know if this is a switch issue or if it could be something else. iv had issues trying to find switches for this car.

Oh "POOH" .. Take the window out and clean the tracks and replace any broken guide parts that are in the window assembly.

Go out into the yards and find all sorts of window parts - switches, tracks, parts and similar out there.

To me it sounds like either your not getting power to the up side of one of your switches, or one of the switches isn't allowing the voltage (or enough voltage) to pass through it. You can use a multi-meter to test for voltage. Its been almost 10 years since I had to fix a problem like that, but if I remember correctly it was an issue with 1 of the switches. You can also use a multi-meter to test the switches by checking for continuity.
