Will this intercooler fit?

Awesome information. That helped out a lot! Thanks!

I already have IC piping that someone said would work fine, but if it doesn't I will go with that piping. That is a good price; I was looking around for cheap piping but could find any.

You're the man! :thumb:

No problem man, try those pipes your buddy gave you and see how they work, if anything you can go the ebay route for pipes as well. Make sure to keep us updated. Take care.:thumb:

Yeah, I will. It's going to suck if I get the IC and the pipes don't work well, then I have to go and order the other pipes. I'll be like LOL to . Haha.

I'll keep you updated, with pictures!

EDIT: Sorry for the double post.

If I use my IC piping? Why do you say this?

I dont know what he means by that, but in mine, in exception to my upper pipe, i have 4 couplers. two of them are the ones that connect the pipe to the intercooler. Doesn't seem like alot of couplers to me, and the pipe finish is great, and its mandrel bent.

hahahahah thats a good way to express how you will feel hehe. Don't worry it'll all work out great.

Yeah, I was confused. Doesn't seem like I'd need too many couplers. Sounds good though!

Haha, I hope so! :thumb:

Okay so my FMIC should be in tomorrow and I'm still a little confused on the way my piping should work.

The previous owner told me that I should keep the piping to my SMIC and then just hook up the new piping from there.

Will this work or should I just replace it all?

Would the 1G BOV fit on the intercooler piping, and would I need a gasket?

damn man it came out sweet as hell. Did you mount it how I told you or did you do it another way? If you did it another way, you must share haha.

How does the car feel now? Notice the operating temp go up a bit?

Well, only the core is on right now. I have to order another pipe from ETS.

I mounted it up a different way. I got rid of the crash bar completely.

I'll get some more detailed pics when I take off the bumper again.

I've got the same intercooler. here are some pics of how i mounted it using the CXracing pipes. I had a two mounting brackets welded on the bottom of the core too.

I mocked up the core a little lower than you usually would, that way the piping would just make it underneath the fog lights.

I'll have my bumper off again really soon and I'll snap a few pics for you.

Interesting. I'm looking forward to the pics

You know it. Did you see what I meant by lowering it you run into the power steering lines? Did you make your own brackets or use Dejons with the washers? Either way it looks like you are almost done, in answer to your previous question you use the old upper piping that you already have and run the lower pipe up to it. The only thing though is I though that ETS only did the short route piping. Hope it all works out.

I ended up making my own brackets and it worked out pretty well.

Yeah I plan on using the stock upper piping. It should hook up to the aftermarket piping right where it would connect to the SMIC. This will end up getting replaced soon, but I dont have a flange for the 1G BOV, so I will have to drill the one that I have to fit.

Other than that I am nearing completion. I'm just waiting for the J pipe for the 14b to come in.

me and my bro are going to install my intercooler kit within the next two weeks: i have the FMIC and an universal intercooler piping kit (both bought separate off ebay):

1 Set - Mandrel-bent Aluminum Polished 3" pipes (1/16" thickness, total length of 18")
2 Pieces - 90 Degrees Mandrel-bent Pipes
2 Pieces - 75 Degrees Mandrel-bent Pipes
2 Pieces - 45 Degrees Mandrel-bent Pipes
8 Pieces - Racing Blue Straight Couplers ~
2 Pieces - Racing Blue 90 Degree Elbows Couplers

i heard i am going to have to do a long route and bend/cut some pipes. What does a long route entail? where will the piping be going so i have a good idea before i start this whole thing i have 3" piping, some people say thats a lil big, but will it not still work? Will the bumper get in the way when i want to reinstall it after? will i have to put anything into the actual piping? (sensors, etc). i am only 8 months into learning about DSM's and this will be my first major project....my bro is a 3rd year mechanic apprentice, so he'll be able to do alot (i hope) and i know where i can get the pipes bent/cut/welded, i just gotta find out the angles. If anyone has links to instructions or even better picture instructions, i would greatly appreciated it. Thanks

As soon as someone answers me, i will post pics of my attempt to install my FMIC, wish me luck!

P.S anyone else use the universal intercooler piping on their DSM?
