Will stock rs exhaust WORK on a gst?

And what will the performance be like?

I dont like the loudness of my car. This is the only reason im swapping out the exhaust

I wouldn't. Small diameter, single-outlet muffer = restriction and EGT's out the asshole.

So your exhuast is aftermarket and loud, and you want to use a stock rs exhaust?

Why not change the muffler to an oval one?

Source a stock gst muffler from supporting vendors Mitsubishigraveyard and MillerImportparts. Or classifieds someone might be parting out a 2ga/2gb dsm and you might get lucky.

Dont go backwards, Only the GST axle catback works for Rs/GS/ESI Nt cars.

If you do have an atfermarket exhaust only thing that would quiet it down would installing an resonator Silencer. That piece could be had for cheap on ebay. Post up a photo of your muffler, for reference.

Well i was considering it because a guy was selling the whole setup from the manifold to the tip for $50. Right now ive got a 3 inch magnaflow exhaust from the manifold down. And its hard to find one in the local junkyard since these dont show up

Ya there are better ways to go about quieting it down. A resonator for one, and a different muffler. Check out the dynomaxVT muffler or something else like it. The dynomax works just like a baffled muffler at idle and cruse, but when you step on it a valve opens and it becomes a straight through muffler. Just did this on my car, so far i like the sound much better than the megan system that was on it.

If you want a "stock look" though you have GST, I'd go with this borla. I had it on my GS and it was a good addition.

Shape doesn't determine anything except for volume and well, shape. I use an oval Magnaflow however it's a straight-through design.

OP if you want quiet, either source out a stock exhaust or I would get a nice brand, I like Magnaflow and get an oval single in to your sized exhaust, to a dual or single outlet of the same size or slightly smaller and get a chambered muffler.

The baffles are what reduce the sound as well as the packing material.
