Hey, I found this diagram for my 99 RS exhaust system.

Would anyone like to be so kind as to tell me what each part in the system is called?

Thank you much in advance. :hellyeah:

Ok... So If I wanted to buy an exhaust off ebay I would pretty much have to get these sets...

  1. Headers + downpipe
  2. Test pipe or CAT
  3. Cat Back + Muffler.

Because I was looking at all that on ebay and I was thinking the downpipe had a cat in it because of the way it looked with the mesh looking part with the bulge in it where the O2 sensor goes in.

That small mesh parts could be a flex section.

No usually headers come with the manifold and a flex pipe which connects to your cat-converter you have the option of replacing you cat-converter depending on the laws where you live or you could just put headers flex pipe leave the cat and purchase a catback exhaust which replaces everything from the cat-converter back hope that helped LOL

Gotcha.

Thanks for the input everyone.

Any suggestions on a specific type of exhaust? Like the stainless steel vs ceramic... Things like that. I know there's different kinds of steel as well such as t304...

if you go with a cat back for your rs, just get a stainless steel exhaust off ebay. I dont think they make ceramic cat backs. Your not going to be making much more hp anyway so dont buy name brand which are for the most part $300+

my ebay catback most likely makes the same hp as the name brands, sounds just as good, and hasnt rusted through or anything and ive had it for more than two years.

i dont have a header for my talon, but for headers you might want to buy good quality here. (that means name brand headers will probably be a good idea) because from what i hear if you buy cheap headers, they crack easily and then that means you will probably end up paying more in the long run.

+1 on the ebay exhaust system. I purchased mine off ebay about 2 years ago and it has not failed me since. It sounds alot better than the apexi on my buddies eclipse too.

If your thinking about getting headers i would recommend megan racing. I have run their headers on my car for about 2 years also without a problem.
