Will opening mouth of bumper help with FMIC efficiency??

hey everyone, i have a 2ga talon with the punishment racing fmic. The bumper on the talons done have a very large opening. Now my question is, if i was to cut the mouth to make it larger and show more of the IC will it be more efficient with its cooling capabilities?

Yes it would be but it's not worth cutting up your bumper. Just buy a 2gb eclipse bumper if you want more air flow.

I see lots of 2gs with fmic and rarely any of them are cut up, i wouldnt go cutting my bumper, more effiecient dont know about that.

More surface coming in direct contact with incoming air. Yes it will be able to cool better. Looks good too when its done right.

More surface area in contact with forced air would be more efficient. I would follow the advise from above and get a 2g eclipse front bumper if you are that concerned. If you do follow through and cut yours, I would suggest making ducting straight to the fmic so all available air is forced through it (if it has gaps between the ic and the cut bumper).

Yes absolutely it would increase cooling if you can make a shroud around the fmic to the bumper opening, it would help and mean less bumper cutting. Or holes cut in the bumper. Like someone suggested would be ok to.

The only thing i cut out was the top black plastic, Looks good to me.
Just took out the dremel and cut it out, quick and easy.
Except for the road rashes on the bottom of the bumper, thinking of doing the HDR lip to cover them up.

2gb eclipse bumper is in the cars future but for now i think im gonna try and dremel it open. If it looks shitty it will just speed up my buying of the 2gb bumper

Many big name people have ran 9's on a stock uncut bumper. The opening is more than enough. You can actually trap air if you cut the bumper in certain spots. It's not going to make a hell of a difference either way. It's more about your personal opinion on how it looks. I probably will be cutting mine a little bigger with the new 5"

It's all preference. I've never liked that wide open look the hipsters love so much. Just dying for attention..

i did it to my 2gb front bumper i cut out the inserts and i thought it helped with the efficiancy of keeping the turbo cooler.
