Will open downpipe help?

My one friend suggested maybe unbolt my downpipe for the track this Friday. I'm not sure if it would hurt me or benefit me. Any opinions? Mods are in my profile.

It will help you. Your running shorter exhust. So exhuast fumes/back pressure will exit the car faster!

Cdorrect me if I am wrong but is this called Dumping at the Downpipe.

EITHER WAY ITS JUST DO IT.

How about this. DO a run with the DP connected and Not connected. Should take you less then 5mins to disconnect andre connect it.

Well is it going to make my times better or worse? I'm kind of newby when it comes to this... but if it will help me, do I want to take it completely out? Like unbolt it right off the turbo and then where it connects to the exhaust or waht?

Is your complete exhaust stock? You can run open o2 (Just make sure no wires are around where the hot exhaust gases will be coming out, Or you can just run it open downpipe. Either way, Your times will improve with the stock exhaust unbolted. It's how I run the srt at the track, If you coulden't tell by the ungodly sound Did you ever turn the boost up yet!!!! Throw in some of that race gas again, And raise the boost from that louzy 14lbs or whatever you had it at!

No, I have a 2.5" exhaust. Yes, I could tell by your mack truck sounding car . I was running more than 14lbs . My boost controller is ####ed up, I need a real one. My car will hit like 14 in 1st, 16ish in 2nd and then hold 20 in 3rd and 4th. That's how I was running it with race gas and then I was basically running it the asme with with pump and I ran a 14.6 with the gas and a 14.5 without it.

That's that charlie mbc you have on there haha! It reminds me of those jax things from the 80's. I actually thought your catback was stock. You can unbolt your exhaust and leave it open downpipe (where your testpipe or cat would connect to the dp), Take it for a spin and see what you think. It WILL sound like a big truck though!

Haha, it leaks. Like you can hear air coming out of it when you open the little valves, I really need to get a new one. I went to all the local hardware stores around here to look for a air pressure regulator and I couldn't find ONE!! So I just unbolt the dp from the cat and let it go? I don't have to take the whole thing off?



I want it to sound like a big truck, hahaha.

You can unbolt the downpipe right from the o2 housing. It will be very loud, And you NEED to make sure that nothing is in the hot exhaust gases, Path! I've run both open o2, And just open downpipe. On the srt, I run open dp.

Alright, this will give me something to do tomorrow afternoon to see if I like it. Anyways, are you going to head down this Friday? I think Charlie might finally be going, but who knows. I just want to see what his car will run.

Don't go this friday, It is the hs eliminations. I am going down on the 25th, To watch though. There are suppose to be a few fast dsm's going down, From what I've gathered on local boards. This friday or saturday, There is a car show up in w/b or something like that, At nite I believe? We're all having a big convoy up to there.

Post back when you unbolt the exhaust, And see if it makes a noticable difference or not, For you.

From just Numidia? I'm still in high school haha. I was reading on nepadsm.com that a few people from there are going to be going. I guess it's this Friday in the Jack Williams across from Burger King on Wyoming Ave.
