Well my 2g 7-bolt took a crap on me, i'm going to swap in a complete 6-bolt, i'm going to be selling the car because i am moving to the states so no piston swapping for my 2g's etc, just a stock 6-bolt with my MAF, i'll be keeping my car for a while.

On my 7-bolt i had a stock engine, 14b@15psi, intake pipe, UICP w 1gBOV, 3" turbo-back, ACT2100. WIthout the clutch my best time was 14.8@97mph, my best mph is 98mph.
WIll my MPH decrease? will my times be slower or faster or the same?

Well i'm guessing better flowing head, intake manifold, throttle body it shoud be faster?
But what about the pistons?
 
The 6-bolt/7-bolt engine just determines its chance to get crankwalk. One type of the 4g63 (DSM 6-bolt/7-bolt) is not really thought of as being faster than the other.. in fact, the 6-bolt you're going to put in is older than the 7-bolt, and could have been beaten up a little bit more, thus making it a little slower. All determines on your new engine's condition.
 
6 bolts come with a better head, a bigger throttle body, and a better flowing intake manifold. use your 2g maf and upper intercooler pipe throttle body elbow and have the best of both worlds :D
 
For the most part the 2G is faster than a 1G stock because:
- better ic flow characteristics (less restriction)
- better compression

correct me if I am wrong, I though the intake manifold on a 2G was better than a 1G, along with the exhaust manifold.
 
exhaust mani on 2g is better, mas on 2g is better, throttle body elbow on 2g is better, intake on 1g is better, throttle body on 1g is better, head on 1g is better, bov on 1g is better.. umm.. theres probably more but thats what i remember
 
basically hes saying that if u get a hard set of ic piping with a tb elbow the only thing on a 2g that will be better is the exhaust manifold.

a few days ago i saw a thread on here and a guy posted a link to a website that showed the differences between the stock 1g and stock 2g intake setups, if i find it i will post the link cause its pretty insightful, but the 1g throttle body and intake manifold are bigger and flow better. i think theyre like 1cm bigger in diameter.
 
Yeah i will be swapping in all my 2g parts that are better, still i'll leave the 1g pistons so i guess i'll be slower, dang.
