i have a bad o2 sensor (the one closer to the engine) just wondering if this will affect performance at all? acceleration?

Word.A bad o2 will only affect closed loop operation. Ie, idle/off idle/cruise. Wide open throttle operation causes the ecu to go into "open loop" operation and the o2 is not looked at by the ecu. The ecu switches to a preprogrammed map. So, will it affect cruise operation? Yes. Wot operation? No.
