Will a 94 ecu work in a 92?

Courtice,
I have searched several scrap yards and all the ecu's were taken out :notgood: The only one i had found was from a 94 nt, i have a 92 nt and i was wodering if i can put it in my car.
Thanks for helping.

I'm not too sure... My interchange book say's that the 94 N/A Federal ECU only works for the 94... No idea for sure though.

91-94 should be the same. Check part numbers. Both are 1gb's and nt. Only difference might be for auto tranny or abs. Check that. When I need a part like that, I go to dsmsource and put up a want ad and just wait for the replies and choose the best deal. Hope that helps.

Thanks everyone for all the help, The reason i need a new one is because the code reading device at the shop says no communication with ecu.. I priced out a new one at the mitsu dealership and they said 2500!!!ROFL

And the one at the yard is only $45.

thanks again.

yes I think it will, only the 1990 is diff from the 91-94. Just as long as both ECU's are turbo

Don't be surprised if you start getting a CEL for code 43. In 94 all the Federal cars got California emissions standards. In general you can swap the ECUs from the 91-93 cars as long as it's from the same type of car.

Steve- isn't that a simple matter of changing the config resistors? Its the input from the egr-t sensor that trips it right?

I haven't looked at the 94 software to see if the config resistors makes a difference WRT reading the EGRT input. Of the actual 94 MY ECUs I have seen, the use of the resistors is different from how the 91-93 software version worked.

I guess I should look and see what the EB2X code does when I have some free time.

I am doing the same thing with my 92 turbo. I am putting in a 94 eprom

And once you change the EPROM to something else it really stops being a 94 ECU because the hardware is otherwise identical to the rest of the 91+ boards.

I didn't bring that up before because it's not that likely that the OP found a EPROM for his NT at the yard.
